Our featured English Premier League taking place on Sunday sees Spurs open their season with a home fixture against Everton
Spurs finished sixth last season and tended to blow hot and cold. When their key players were fully fit they were a very capable side although defensively they weren't always as strong as you would expect a Jode Mourinho side to be. Matt Doherty from Wolves and defensive midfielder Hojbjerg from Southampton will be expected to help rectify that whilst Kane, Son and Alli grab the goals.
Spurs are 3/1 to finish in the top 4 and 4/7 to place in the top 6 and Harry Kane is 11/2 to finish as top Premier League goalscorer.
Everton were mid table finishers last season. Carlo Ancelotti steadied the ship after Marco Silva departed but they didn't kick on. Some big money signings over the past couple of season still have plenty to prove and odds of 5/1 for a top 6 finish suggest the bookmakers are far from convinced the necessary improvement will come.
Recent Head to Head
Last season the teams drew 1-1 at Goodison and Spurs won the return in London 1-0.
In the early betting Spurs are 33/10 to win the game with the draw at 26/10 and Everton are 33/10.
It's 8/10 for both teams to find the net and 17/20 for a game of 3 goals or more in total.
Note all odds quoted are subject to change
Spurs look the right favourites although I'd rather see them with a few games under their belt before calling their match results. Everton are hard to weigh up, Ancelotti would stand a better chance than many of getting them moving in the right direction but this is no easy start.
All in all I'm on the fence between under / over 2.5 in the goals markets so 2-3 in total gets the vote
Total match goals 2-3 at even money
