The Uefa Champions League Round of 16 concludes this week and heading into the second leg at Old Trafford on Tuesday night Manchester United’s tie with Sevilla is locked up at 0-0.
In the outright betting Sevilla are trading unchanged at around 150/1 to win this trophy whilst Manchester United can be backed in the region of 20/1 (from 18/1).
For this tie, Sevilla are trading at around 6/4 (from 24/10) to progress via any method and United can be backed in the region of 8/15 (from 4/11).
United offered little threat in the first leg in Seville and goalkeeper David de Gea made some vital saves to keep the score level. The stats revealed United had just the one shot on target and the corner count was 12-4 in Sevilla’s favour. There was just one booking for each side.
This is United’s first appearance in the Champions League knockout rounds since 2014 when they were beaten 4-2 on aggregate by Bayern Munich in the last 8. In the group stage this season they won all three of their home games; beating Basel (3-0), Benfica (2-0) and CSKA Moscow (2-1).
In the Premier League United are in second spot and although Manchester City are over the hill and far away in the title race they are 5 points clear of Liverpool who they beat 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday. United’s home record comprises of 12 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat with 33 goals scored and 7 conceded.
Sevilla had 8 shots on target in the first leg but they couldn’t find a way through and unless we see another 0-0 stalemate, they are now faced with the prospect of having to find the net. A score draw would do and they did finish all square with Liverpool (2-2) in the group stage whilst other results away from home comprised of a 5-1 hiding at Spartak Moscow and 1-1 draw with the group’s whipping boys Maribor.
Sevilla have a formidable recent record in the Europa League but in this competition last season they came unstuck in the Round of 16, losing 3-2 on aggregate to Leicester despite winning the first leg 2-1 on home soil.
In La Liga Sevilla lost 2-0 at home to Valencia at the weekend and they are fifth in the standings, 11 points off a place in the top 4 and qualification for this tournament next season. Their away record comprises of 6 wins and 8 defeats with 14 goals scored and 26 conceded.

I thought we would see a couple of goals in the first leg, a call that proved to be way wide of the mark. I’d be surprised by another stalemate and this time around I’ll go with 2-3 goals in total in the 90 minutes, an outcome which covers a number of scorelines I can envisage here.
Bet: 90 minute total goals, 2-3 at 9/10
