Betting a lot like Batting!
Betting a lot like Batting!

I have been betting for many years and during this time I have had plenty of reason to pause and think about great wins but also some hard knocks.  One thing that amazes me is how quickly great form can turn sour.

Treadmill Theatrics in Currie Cup Playoff

I had something of a nightmare betting weekend with my long-term punt on Western Province coming up short.  With Province leading 6-0, I had an opportunity to cover my investment or even ensure a small profit but I decided to sit tight and in the end had to acknowledge that the better team won on the day.

daredevils150Monday’s action in the Indian Premier League sees Kolkata Knight Riders host Delhi Daredevils and both these sides have one win and two defeats to show for their efforts so far

Knight Riders

The Knight Riders won their first match of the tournament at home to Royal Challengers by a 4 wicket margin but since then they have lost away to the Super Kings and at home to the Sunrisers. Both those defeats came by 5 wicket margins and in Saturday’s clash with the Sunrisers at this venue KKR posted 138/8, their lowest total of the tournament so far. Up until Saturday the KKR batting unit had been going well, chasing down 176 for victory against RCB and posting 202/6 against the Super Kings.

Andre Russell is top scorer for KKR with 112 runs in 3 knocks whilst Sunil Narine has taken 4 wickets and is going at less than 6 per over.

Daredevils

In contrast to KKR the Daredevils lost their first 2 matches before opening their account at the third attempt. The win came away to Mumbai at the weekend when Delhi chased down 195 needed for victory, getting home off the last ball with Jason Roy starring with an unbeaten 91. This will be the fourth away fixture in succession for Delhi who started with defeats away to the Kings XI (6 wickets) and Rajasthan Royals (10 runs DLS) where their chase was restricted to just 6 overs.

Rishabh Pant has 95 runs in 3 knocks for Delhi and Jason Roy made 91 in his only appearance so far. Trent Boult is top Daredevils bowler with 4 wickets.

Match Result

Kolkata Knight Riders 7/10

Delhi Daredevils 11/10

Betting Angle

The Knight Riders came up against a very useful Sunrisers bowling unit at the weekend and whilst the Daredevils attack doesn’t look to have as much depth, the visitors will take plenty from a really good chase of a big target in their weekend fixture.

With the above in mind I fancy that we will see a highest individual score of 67 or more.
