TOP BET

Race 1: VISION OF TRUST(2) – SCRATCHED
Jockey: Stuart RANDOLPH Trainer: Paul GADSBY

The well drawn VISION OF TRUST brings promising form into this contest but he still needs to prove his stamina over this six furlongs. That said, he ran on well for 2nd on the polytrack in his first venture around the bend recently and should build on that progress.

Race 3: VOLCANIC SUNSET(7)  SCRATCHED
Jockey:  Athandiwe MGUDLWA - Trainer: Sean TARRY

VOLCANIC SUNSET showed fair ability last campaign and it must be noted that he was carded to race at Turffontein on 28/10 so his progress there needs to be monitored. It is highly unlikely that champion trainer Tarry will race him in both provinces in such a short space of time, particularly as he returns from a 16 week absence. That said, he should be extremely competitive if he takes his place in this field.

Race 4: SWEET TREAT(3)
Jockey:  Anthony DELPECH- Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

This is a very interesting contest where the form entrants should dominate the betting market and the finish. The likely favourite ALRAUNE has had enough chances but she was caught late when assisted by a powerful tailwind on the polytrack over this distance last time out. She had the lightly raced SWEET TREAT nearly four lengths adrift of her that day and the Van Zyl runner should again appreciate racing on this shorter run-in. She proved her worth on the grass in Gauteng.

Race 6: CUVARA(2)
Jockey:  Warren KENNEDY- Trainer: Tony RIVALLAND

CUVARA may have some issues but the lightly raced four-year old is loaded with ability and his track experience should stand him in good stead in his seasonal debut today. The Var gelding was touched off by subsequent winner and Cape visitor Rock Of Africa on his handicap debut in early May & now returns after a 26 week absence. He was deservedly raised four pounds in his merit rating but the bay gelding still has more to offer and he should go close from the best draw. His conditioner usually brings his runners back fit and well and the likely blistering speed will play right into his hands.

Race 7: PURE LOGIC(8)
Jockey: Jarred SAMUEL Trainer:  Dean KANNEMEYER

The Kannemeyer yard holds a strong hand in the day's topliner but the lesser fancied lightweight, PURE LOGIC can cause the upset on his eventual return to his happy hunting ground. The four-year old has kept his form since his impressive maiden victory on this circuit over slightly shorter on local debut nearly one year ago. He found the trip too far for him when easily beaten by his stablemate ONE MAN SHOW in his penultimate showing but he is 2.5kgs to the good and should be a bright proposition here.
