TOP BET

Race 2: PACIFIC TRADER(7)
Jockey: C Orffer - Trainer: B Crawford

PACIFIC TRADER attracted plenty of betting support on his promising debut over this c & d two weeks ago. The speedy bay gelding tried hard in vain to collar his experienced stable companion Pata Pata but he was in turn exactly eight lengths clear of the next placed entrant LA MER. The son of Sail From Seattle would have come on appreciably from the experience.

Race 4: STAR BURST(2)
Jockey: R Fourie - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

STAR BURST has shown decent potential and she stayed on for a creditable 3rd in a competitive field over slightly shorter four weeks ago. The daughter of Silvano is better drawn here and she will enjoy the step-up in distance.

Race 6: ELUSIVE HEART(9)
Jockey: R Fourie - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The solitary representative of the fairer sex, ELUSIVE HEART, is one of a few who can boast a victory over the brilliant Snowdance but she was smashed by the same rival in back-to-back efforts subsequent- ly. However, she also bounced back to register an impressive last victory over a strong field over seven furlongs despite dictating into a headwind. The bay filly has a smart c & d record and she is still developing her best rating so little should be read into the fact that she is under sufferance today.

Race 7: TRIP TO HEAVEN(1)
Jockey:  Richard FOURIE - Trainer: Sean TARRY

The brilliant TRIP TO HEAVEN may have gone exactly one year without a victory since he thrashed TEVEZ in this contest but the Trippi gelding has produced some high quality efforts at the highest level despite being his customary slow starting self. He has again been well prepared for this contest & the Tarry inmate will strip fitter after his belated seasonal debut last month. The three-year olds have already enjoyed success in open feature company this summer and they could provide stiff competition to the first selection.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY

Race 8: BWANA(9)
Jockey: C Orffer- Trainer: B Crawford

BWANA showed plenty of heart on his narrow debut win over this c & d last month. He quickly recovered from a slow start and showed much speed before fighting back doggedly to register the narrow victory over subsequent short head winner Dynasty's Boy. The well-bred chestnut takes on considerably stronger rivals on his handicap debut but he could easily be better than rated and certainly has scope for progress.
