Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SALTIRE(7)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER  - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

SALTIRE has shown promise in her two starts to date and she was outrun late into a close 2nd at Durbanville four weeks ago. She finished just over one length in front of the debutante FLOWER OF CARMEL but should make her track experience count and can go one better

Race 4: THE BOSTON ROSE(12)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD'HERBE - Trainer: Justin SNAITH

THE BOSTON ROSE is well-bred and she expectedly showed useful progress over the minimum trip at Durbanville in a competitive line-up second time out. The Snaith inmate was badly drawn on that circuit and she was squeezed at the gate but she still ran on eye-catchingly for 3rd, just one length adrift of the runner-up Saltire (runs in race 1).

Race 5: SEQUINED(3)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD- Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

There are some useful form sorts on display in this small field where the three-year olds may dominate the pace and the finish. SEQUINED was slightly disappointing in a strong progress plate affair at Durbanville recently but that was her first try at that course and she probably found the six furlongs too sharp for her. The Marshall trained daughter of Oratorio showed much promise prior to that, including a facile c & d maiden win and a feature placing behind subsequent Grade 1 winner Lady In Black during her very successful KZN campaign. She will prefer this extra furlong and is capable with front running tactics.

Race 8: CALL ME DARLING(8)
Jockey: Sihle CELE - Trainer: Piet STEYN

The final event is yet another tricky handicap affair and once again a solid gallop is expected. The first selection CALL ME DARLING will be at home on her return to Kenilworth after moderate recent runs at Durbanville and she should love the likely strong pace. The bay mare struck up a fine relationship with today's jockey over this c & d prior to her last two runs

Race 6: RIVER CAM(6)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

This is another tricky and competitive handicap where the frontrunner could profit heavily. The first selection RIVER CAM appears most likely to dictate terms, particularly with blinkers fitted for the first time. The well-related Trippi gelding has fair recent form and he continues to steadily drop in the merit ratings
