Race 2: HELLO SUMMER(7)
Jockey:  D Dillon  - Trainer: W A Nel

HELLO SUMMER was unfancied when she produced an eye-catching c & d debut effort in a strong field three weeks ago. The daughter of Querari wasn't pushed hard in the closing stages that day and she should make natural improvement. She has cracked pole position.

Race 5: PHILAE(1) -  SCR
Jockey:  D Dillon  - Trainer: W A Nel

There are some decent fillies on display in this nine furlong handicap where PHILAE will be cherry ripe to bounce right back to her best. The daughter of Silvano has shown promise from day one and she has come back well after suffering a setback following a Gauteng escapade. She is weighted to finish closer to LEAVES OF GRASS on their recent clash exactly one month ago and could prove to be better than her current rating. The likely sedate gallop will play right into her hands.

Race 8: OVERDOSE(8)
Jockey:  A Domeyer- Trainer: Candice Bass – Robinson

The Zanzibarian (runs in race 6) formline was already boosted when the 4th placed entrant Pacific Chestnut just got the better of the runner-up WILLIAM THE BRAVE over a mile and a half recently and that form should again come to the fore here. However, the latter has to contend with the 3rd placed finisher OVERDOSE this time around and the Bass-Robinson entrant may hold the slight advantage over this shorter trip. The improving chestnut gelding seems over his quirks and he finished well from a poor draw in that last event. He has three parts of a length to find with a blinkered WILLIAM THE BRAVE but has more scope for improvement and the imported son of All Too Hard can inflict more pain on the conditioner of the overdue four-year old. Speaking of the latter, he was pipped when conceding 8kgs to his conqueror a fortnight ago but has continued to be costly to follow. He has huge hope in this field though.

Race 9: BILLY SILVER(2)
Jockey:  A Delpech  - Trainer: D S Bosch

The high quality three-year old BILLY SILVER just found seven furlongs at feature level beyond him on his local debut last month and he unsurprisingly reverts to sprinting straight away. Of course the Silvano colt trotted up in back-to-back victories over this distance prior to that. The bay takes on some hard-knocking older campaigners on his handicap debut today but he is loaded with ability and can still pull this off. His top visiting jockey has made the trip down for this particular contest.

Race 7: HOTEL CIPRIANI(7)
Jockey:  G Van Niekerk - Trainer: Justin Snaith

HOTEL CIPRIANI is proving to be better than his low assessment and his post maiden attempt proved that his PE victory over subsequent winner Saltoro Ridge was no fluke. The lightly raced four-year old ran on well for 4th over this c & d in a slightly stronger field two weeks ago despite his wide draw and he escaped without a penalty. His good draw is a major plus today.
