TOP BET

Race 1: GOOD BUDDY(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH  - Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

The grey colt GOOD BUDDY had little go his way but still put his best foot forward when drawing off to record an impressive debut victory over four furlongs on this course in mid-December. He meets the runner-up ANZA-BORREGO on 3kgs worse terms for that length and a half deficit but the Kannemeyer inmate will appreciate this extra furlong and he clearly has more to offer.

Race 3: THE BUNGALOW(12)
Jockey: Sean VEALE - Trainer: Dennis DRIER

This is an extremely moderate contest where the bunch of newcomers don't have to be above-average to account for this field. That said, experience may still prove crucial & the Drier inmate THE BUNGALOW had a fair debut in a decent line-up last winter but also seems to have suffered a setback and she now returns after a 35-week absence. The daughter of Captain Al should enjoy the extra furlong.

Race 4: HIROHITO(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

HIROHITO has improved quickly and he relished the extra ground when registering his career-best effort over this c & d three weeks ago. The Ideal World gelding stayed on eye-catchingly for 3rd in a competitive line-up and he should continue to progress. He had his improved fellow three-year-old ROOT BEER just a neck adrift and the pair look set to fight out another close battle.

Race 6: REDEEMER(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH  - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

The Cape visitor REDEEMER was flawless in both his impressive c & d wins in his comeback attempts and he holds a strong chance of completing the hat-trick at this similar level despite the expected eight-pound penalty. The Captain Al colt has his peak showing and is the stable's only runner on the day.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: THE KING OF RAND(4)
Jockey: Ashton ARRIES - Trainer: Michael ROBERTS

There are many really fast types in this low-key five-furlong handicap and the likely blistering pace will play right into the hands of the first selection THE KING OF RANDOM. This chestnut gelding had smart form prior to his fair last c & d effort on soft ground where he got beaten just over one length into 7th in a blanket finish. He was just a neck behind LE HARVE that day after switching at a crucial stage.
