Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: COYS(11)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Paul LAFFERTY

The imported Australian colt COYS is improving with each outing and he got going late to finish close- up in a blanket affair over a mile in late July. He would have strengthened during the six week break and his pedigree indicates that he will relish this step-up in distance. The three-year old brown colt will be severely tested on his seasonal debut in open company but he is obviously rated by his conditioner and top jockey Delpech has been engaged.

Race 2: LUCKY AT LAST(2)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Nathan KOTZEN

It could pay to follow the Ataturk formline in today's opening contest as the top selection here LUCKY AT LAST went down narrowly in that event on the polytrack over ten furlongs recently. The drop to the mile isn't ideal for the chestnut colt but he seems above-average and is still improving. His trainer has obviously taken a chance in this ordinary line-up because his four-year old has drawn best of all. Top jockey Delpech expectedly keeps the ride.

TOP BET

Race 6: EDEN GARDENS GLITZ(4)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Doug CAMPBELL

EDEN GARDENS GLITZ is plagued with issues but she races well fresh and has all the right credentials to take a power of beating at this lower-level. The daughter of Seventh Rock produced some useful efforts in far stronger company in-mid winter. It is worth noting that Marcus shed the maiden on the four-year old bay filly.

Race 8: ROY'S TAXI(1)
Jockey:Anthony DELPECH - Kumaran NAIDOO

The veteran gelding ROY'S TAXI has some good recent form, most notably his encouraging last sprint in a strong line-up on the polytrack three weeks ago. However, he clearly prefers this extra furlong and should take a power of beating despite top weight. The six-year old drops considerably in class here.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: VALCAR(2)
Jockey: Brandon LERENA - Trainer: Mike MILLER

The lightly raced VALCAR weakened late on his fair handicap debut when trying this distance on the polytrack in late May and he still has room for improvement. The two pound drop in his rating along with the dip in class should certainly help his cause and the free-striding chestnut son of Var can stake a serious claim. He won his only start on the grass and his good draw is a plus.
