Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: DISTANT CALL(8)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA  - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

DISTANT CALL produced a much improved second showing when displaying lots of pace over a similar trip on the standside course and she is by some margin the pick of the raced entrants. The Woodruff inmate was returning from a 13 week break that day so she will strip fitter and has more to offer. Of course this combination were victorious recently.

Race 2: GO GREEN(7)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer:Johan A Janse VAN VUUREN

GO GREEN was expectedly green when he was well beaten into 4th on debut over five furlongs but that was in a competitive line-up, the form of which was boosted when the runner-up Brigtnumberten and 3rd placed entrant Great Shaka subsequently shed their respective maiden certificates. This well-bred son of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on appreciably from the experience and he should make natural improvement over the extra furlong. Top jockey Gavin Lerena climbs aboard.

TOP BET

Race 3: KING'S COUNTY(3)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON- Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

KING'S COUNTY is improving with each outing and he relished the mile when staying on smartly for 2nd on the standside course a fortnight ago. The De Kock inmate should continue to improve with racing and he can go close in this small field. He has his peak showing and should enjoy this shorter run-in.

Race 4: AFRICAN DYNASTY(5)
Jockey:  Warren KENNEDY - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

AFRICAN DYNASTY had a disappointing second showing when trying the polytrack but the well-bred daught- er of Dynasty showed decent potential on her promising debut on the grass prior to that. She is certainly capable of bouncing back and would have stengthened during the short absence. The bay filly will relish the steep rise in distance and she should make smart improvement on her Highveld debut.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 9: ROYAL VARIETY(8)
Jockey: Julius MARIBA - Trainer: Sean TARRY

The recently gelded ROYAL VARIETY continues to drop in the merit ratings and he should be effective in this lesser company. The four-year old bay endured the unkindest cut of all after his last flop but the Tarry inmate proved that he is better than that with decent prior efforts. The Var gelding can cause upset and is his jockey's only ride on the day.
