Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: HURRICANE LASS(9)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

HURRICANE LASS showed smart improvement when she stayed on for a close 4th in a competitive sprint second time out and she is bred to relish this step-up in distance. The daughter of Greys Inn is well drawn on her first venture around the turn and on this tight circuit but she is progressive and has strong claims for her owner/jockey.

Race 4: OKAVANGO DELTA(3)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Robbie SAGE

The lack of a solid gallop will make this staying contest a very interesting one and a close finish is expected. The Muzi Yeni/Robbie Sage team have already had a solid start to this season and the pair could be at it again with the Var gelding OKAVANGO DELTA who has his seasonal debut. The four-year old gelding showed some ability despite never really threatening the best of his generation at feature level last term. He finished a well beaten 4th in the Derby but seems to enjoy this tight circuit and he rates a definite threat here.

TOP BET

Race 5: ONLY TO WIN(1)
Jockey: Callan MURRAY- Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

ONLY TO WIN is a consistent daughter of Var who was probably moved on too soon when she was outrun late into 2nd in her comeback effort after a 16 week break recently. The bay filly finished exactly three lengths clear of the next placed entrant and she will strip much fitter this time around. The mile on this short run-in will suit her perfectly and the De Kock inmate has plenty more to offer but she concedes chunks of weight to improving types so is sure to be tested once again.

Race 8: JACKMAN(5)
Jockey:  Keagan DE MELO- Trainer: Brian WIID

JACKMAN is holding form but should have gone much closer when baulked at a similar level over further two weeks ago. He recovered well to finish runner-up that day and can make amends despite a one pound penalty. The chestnut gelding is suited to this tight circuit and the drop in distance won't be an issue.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 3: GRAF SPEE(5)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON- Trainer: Jurgen V/HEERDEN

GRAF SPEE appears well held on his recent effort by a few of today's rivals but the bay gelding was baulked at a crucial stage that day and would have definitely finished much closer. He had some useful staying form prior to that and should redeem himself today, particularly over the extra ground.
