Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 1: MIESQUE'S RUMBA(1)
Jockey: Ian STURGEON- Trainer: Leon ERASMUS
A marathon opening contest for maidens and the usual suspects take their place in the ten horse line up. MIESQUE'S RUMBA bounced right back to form when finishing strongly for 3rd over 2600m on this track last month. The runner-up was trounced in a strong field subsequently but this four-year old indicated that he will enjoy this extra two furlongs and has obvious claims
Race 2: THINK TWICE(12)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Robbie SAGE
THINK TWICE was immediately rested after a disappointing second showing in esteemed company. She show- ed her ability with a promising debut two months earlier though and the break would have served her well. The bay filly should enjoy the mile and she can bounce back to her best form from her good draw. She is the stable's only runner on the card.
Race 7: SHATOOSH(3)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Mike & Adam AZZIE
SHATOOSH produced a workmanlike winning c & d performance recently and probably deserved her three pound penalty. She takes on stronger opposition today but is crucially one of just a handful of rivals who is proven over the mile. The chestnut daughter of Trippi has finally cracked a good draw and she can follow-up despite the runner-up of her last effort Knysna Rose only managing 2nd in weaker company subsequently.
Race 9: A P'S LILY(4)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER- Trainer: Tyrone ZACKEY
A P'S LILY preferred the rise in distance as she bounced right back to her best form when recording a major upset over ten furlongs on this course two weeks ago. The chestnut mare produced a strong finish to beat ROSE WATER (1.5kgs better off) going away on that occasion and she should still be a huge contender after being raised just three pounds. She is once again drawn well and now has her peak run.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 8: DAWNBREAKER(7)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON - Trainer: Candice DAWSON
DAWNBREAKER has some fair recent form and after being recently docked three pounds in his merit rating the four-year old chestnut has certainly reached a competitive mark. He was moved on too soon over a mile on the standside course early last month but this shorter run-in of the inside circuit will suit him perfectly. The son of Trippi should have little issue with this distance and he can cause the upset from his good draw.
