Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: GIMME HOPE JOHANNA(1)
Jockey: R Munger - Trainer: M De Kock

GIMME HOPE JOHANNA showed blistering speed and much determination when she was outrun late on her Gauteng debut over a similar trip at the Vaal recently. The former KZN resident would have come on with that Highveld experience and she has scope for progress.

TOP BET

Race 4: SARAGON(14)
Jockey: R Munger - Trainer: G Alexander

SARAGON showed smart improvement when she ran on eye-catchingly for 3rd behind two useful sorts over this c & d second time out. The 5th placed entrant Awfaa boosted that formline with an impressive subsequent triumph and rather interestingly, her finishing time was three-tenths of a second faster than that of subsequent winner State Trooper who campaigned a mere 35 minutes earlier on in the day. This daughter of Ideal World has much scope for progress and she should take a power of beating.

Race 5: MARIO LANZA(7)
Jockey: J V.D.Merwe  - Trainer: R Magner

It isn't surprising that the improving stayer MARIO LANZA has a change of jockey today and the Judpot gelding can go one better than his last effort which was over slightly further. He should have finish- ed more than a neck in front of the long-time maiden VOODOO that day but today's rider can make all the difference.

Race 10: MUTRIB(2)
Jockey: R Munger - Trainer: M De Kock

This is an exciting novice handicap featuring some promising sorts and a close finish is expected. The De Kock inmate MUTRIB landed the betting coup with an explosive finishing burst as he emerged victorious over seven furlongs on this track late last month. He didn't beat much that day but the manner of victory was eye-catching and he should love the extra furlong. That said, the imported son of Street Cry will be severely tested in this stronger contest.

VALUE BET

Race 6: ODD ROB(5)
Jockey: R Munger   - Trainer: G Alexander

ODD ROB found major traffic problems and he wasn't persevered with over the final furlong recently but he can turn the tables with a few rivals on this galloping circuit today. The veteran gelding is only 1.5kgs better off with EQUATOR and should have finished right alongside, if not ahead of the latter that day.
