Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: DIAMOND NOIR(3)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO  - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

DIAMOND NOIR progressed smartly during the first half of the year and the daughter of Seventh Rock appears to have much scope for improvement. She deserved the 19-week absence and could stake a serious claim on her seasonal debut in today's competitive. She has a great burst of speed which has proven to be conducive to this tight circuit so her wide draw isn't a huge worry.

Race 4: HOT AUGUST(3)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: David NIEUWENHUIZEN

The entire' HOT AUGUST disappointed from an unfavourable draw recently but had two eye-catching back to back efforts on this track prior to that. The chestnut son of Var is versatile with his tactics and he has definite claims in today's lesser company.

Race 5: ESPLORATORE(1)
Jockey: Randall SIMONS - Trainer: Alec LAIRD

The three-year-old ESPLORATORE quickened well to easily beat a smart type on debut over this trip on the standside track recently and she should have plenty more to come. She will be severely tested on her handicap debut with a big mass and from a poor draw but the daughter of Eightfold Path appears above-average and she can still pull this off.

TOP BET

Race 7: PERFECT ORDER(2)
Jockey:  Mark KHAN - Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

PERFECT ORDER is clearly plagued with issues but has potential and she improved when finishing 2nd best over a similar trip at the Vaal four weeks ago. She was in turn nearly six lengths clear of the next placed runner and the lightly raced daughter of Greys Inn will be cherry-ripe today. She still has more to offer and can defy the resultant four-pound penalty.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 8: SNOW PATH(13)
Jockey: Chase MAUJEAN - Trainer: Brian WIID

There could be a huge upset in the form of SNOW PATH in this low-key fillies and mares handicap which closes proceedings today. This chestnut daughter of Noordhoek Flyer has struggled to find form since shedding her maiden tag and she has deservedly plummeted in the ratings. She faded badly in her last start which was in much stronger company though and quite interestingly, that formline has worked out extremely well with the 3rd placed runner Seeking Gold and 4th placed entrant Elusive Strike winning their subsequent starts respectively. In fact, even the 6th placed runner Jet Start (finished 0.60 lengths ahead of the top selection) had a good subsequent effort when runner-up in stronger company next time out. Interestingly, her yard ended a barren spell when victorious with Emily Jay who incidentally accounted for Jet Start a week ago.
