Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 4: HOT AUGUST(1)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: DAVID Nieuwenhuizen

The speedy HOT AUGUST clearly found the trip of his penultimate start too far for him and his improved subsequent sprint proved that. He was far from disgraced albeit well beaten into 4th in a small field at the Vaal and his gate speed is an obvious asset on this tight circuit. The Var entire' drops heavily in class and should go well from his good draw.

TOP BET

Race 5: CATALUGA(1)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY- Trainer: Scott KENNY

The speedy CATALUGA has found her form again and she loves this c & d. She finished just a neck ahead of BURGUNDY ROSE at the Vaal when runner-up recently but will undoubtedly be more effective on her most successful circuit today and she should give another solid performance.

Race 6: BLUE SAGE(1)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN  - Trainer: Craig MAYHEW

BLUE SAGE has a short but effective burst of speed which was evident despite her tiring late over further in stronger company at the Vaal recently. She is much better than her track record indicates and the five-year old can build on that last showing. She faces much weaker rivals today and is 4kgs better off with subsequent winner CRANBERRY CRUSH who finished runner-up in that last event.

Race 7: ROSE WATER(10)
Jockey: Juan-Paul v.d.MERWE - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

ROSE WATER plainly failed to stay the marathon trip in her last outing but that form was boosted when Cranberry Crush (runs in race 6) easily defeated a decent field just four days later. This well-bred bay mare had a good run of form, albeit without victory prior to that and she holds solid credentials on this tight circuit. She is capable at this higher level and represents good each/way value with her low mass.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY

Race 8: TIRZAN(2)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Joe SOMA

This is an extremely tricky final affair where much caution is advised. The narrow first verdict goes to the four-year old TIRZAN who had a decent handicap debut behind his stablemate Tendre in stronger company over nine furlongs two weeks ago. He was an impressive maiden winner of his penultimate start over today's distance and still has room for improvement.
