Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 2: OURO(12)
Jockey: A Delpech - Trainer: P A Peter
There are some decent form entrants in this competitive contest, the formline of which should be followed. OURO has finished runner-up in both her showings to date, most recently in a weakish workri- der's event but the daughter of Toreador still has good scope for improvement and she is the narrow first selection with top jockey Delpech engaged. Interestingly, she had a slightly superior finishing time than that of fellow debutant KINDAVAR over this c & d on 07/11.
Race 3: MEMPHIS BELLE(4)
Jockey: M Yeni - Trainer: N M Houdalakis
The speedy MEMPHIS BELLE has got her career firmly back on track under Yeni in recent performances and she holds strong claims despite another unfavourable draw. She drops in class after a good 2nd two weeks ago.
Race 5: ONLY TO WIN(6)
Jockey: M V. Rensburg - Trainer: F M De Kock
The Mike de Kock yard holds a decent hand in this small field and ONLY TO WIN is overdue a big performance and reverting to sprinting should be ideal for the daughter of Var. She had promising form as a juvenile under today's 'hungry' jockey. Her stablemate FISH RIVER isn't sound but she had shown smart potential last season and she would have strengthened during the long absence. The three-year old has her belated seasonal debut but must be closely followed.
Race 8: SAMMI MOOSA(7)
Jockey: M Yeni - Trainer: D John St Gray
SAMMI MOOSA was soundly thrashed by TEENAGE DREAM when unfavourably drawn over this c & d earlier this month but the tough as nails filly quickly moved on from that to produce a smart subsequent run a mere three days later. The lightly weighted bay filly could still be a major threat from her favourable draw today.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 6: ESPLORATORE(10)
Jockey: M Mijoka - Trainer: G A Laird
ESPLORATORE isn't the stable elect and she has been moderate since her exciting debut win earlier this campaign but there was some encouragement from the daughter of Eightfold Path in her last showing. She was lost in the early stages of that night contest but got going late and though well beaten, she is 'crying' out for today's extra distance. Furthermore, she was docked four pounds and her conditioner has engaged a 1.5kgs claiming apprentice.
