Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: GIANNA(6)
Jockey: Mpumelelo MJOKA - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

GIANNA showed smart improvement when displaying raw speed in her much improved second sprint last month. She stayed on for 3rd under this 2.5kgs claiming apprentice and the runner-up New Zealand went close next time out. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight should continue to progress and has definite claims from her favourable draw

TOP BET

Race 4: KICK BUTT(5)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER - Trainer: Stephen MOFFATT

KICK BUTT has been below-par in recent efforts but the equipping of blinkers can aid the chestnut filly in bouncing back to the form which saw her go close over this c & d second time out. That said, it must be noted that she was carded to race at this venue last Saturday so her progress there must be monitored. The struggling four-year old maiden I AM TITANIUM is much better than her recent form indicates and she could certainly have a say on best form, in a contest of this nature.

Race 5: VISIGOTH(11)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

VISIGOTH was unfancied when he ran on eye-catchingly for 3rd on his promising debut over seven furlongs behind two above-average types at Turffontein three weeks ago. His pedigree doesn't convince that the full-brother to the smart Visuality will see out the mile but his finishing burst indicates otherwise and the son of Visionaire takes on a very moderate bunch which should aid his cause. He should make natural improvement but caution is advised as he is likely to start to restricted odds.

Race 7: BORYA(1)
Jockey:  Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

Just six three-year olds head to post for this competitive handicap which should yield an exciting finish. The deserved top weight BORYA showed plenty of ability in KZN last campaign and he could be worth following this term. He finished smartly to be close-up at the highest level over a mile in his last outing and would have strengthened during the nine week absence. His yard has been in great form of late on the Highveld and the son of Indigo Magic can pull this off on his seasonal debut.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: POLAR SECRET(1)
Jockey: Chase MAUJEAN - Trainer: Craig MAYHEW

POLAR SECRET has enough gate speed to easily overcome her unfavourable barrier position and she has the right credentials to go well in this low-handicap over an ideal trip. The bay mare and top weight had a solid last performance despite racing wide under the same mass at Turffontein and of course she trotted up when winning her penultimate start on this course.
