GIMME A RAINBOW is the best bet on this afternoon's card. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has finished runner-up in his last three starts. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will enjoy the rise to the 1300m. Lyle Hewitson takes the ride for the first time and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

PURPLE DIAMOND has very good consistent form lines to his credit. Despite losing a length at the start last time, he showed pace and held on where it matters most. The 6yo gelding won his only attempt over this C&D and will be looking to notch up his seventh career victory.

AMERICAN PRINCESS is much better than her last start suggests. She jumped awkwardly, overraced in the early stages and hung up the straight. She was ultra-impressive when winning her two starts prior to that outing. The daughter of Master Of My Fate has the widest draw to overcome, but she gets the services of Aldo Domeyer who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 8: BYRIDGE (12)
Jockey: Hewitson L - Trainer: Bremner Y
BYRIDGE'S last two starts in feature races have been decent. The son of Byword makes his handicap debut this afternoon, but he looks to have some ability. He carries a handy galloping mass of just 53kgs and with Lyle Hewitson in the saddle, he should be the one to beat.

Jockey: Byleveld M - Trainer: McKenzie D
ESCAPE TO VEGAS finished 3.25 lengths behind VALERIANA in her last start. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She jumps from a good draw of two today and may be the one to side with.
