It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Wylie Hall steps back up to the mile today where she has finished second twice from as many starts. Marco van Rensburg knows her well and from pole position, she should be tough to beat. However, she is carded to race on 17 January and her progress in that race will need to be checked.
RACE 3: MARK THE DOORMAN (1)
Jockey: W Agrella - Trainer: Y Bremner
MARK THE DOORMAN has shown good consistent form to date. He had to switch at a crucial stage last time and was reported to be not striding out. His record on this course is good with a second and five thirds from six starts. His wide draw is no concern as Wayne Agrella is likely to take him to the front in this type of field. The son of Trippi should be hard to peg back this afternoon.

Jockey: G Cheyne - Trainer: A Greeff
GIACOMO has produced three decent efforts since winning his maiden. He was running on well in his last start over a mile on the turf. The son of Byword takes a step up to the ten furlongs and on his last run, he should be at home over the extra distance. He has won once and finished third once from as many outings on this course. Jockey Greg Cheyne knows him well and the pair should find themselves in the winner's enclosure.
Race 5: CLOSE TO MY HEART (1)

CLOSE TO MY HEART took the lead at the 250m mark last time and kept finding all the way to the line. The 5yo mare has a good record over this c&d with three wins, a second and three third-place finishes from eleven outings. Marco van Rensburg jumps aboard for the first time and if repeating her last run, she should be the right one here.

ULTRA BOOST made a decent local debut against much stronger over six furlongs on the turf. He showed good pace that day, but was reported to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. He takes a drop in distance today, but at the same time takes a big drop in class. The son of More Than Ready should strip much fitter and there may be more to come under Wayne Agrella.
