Race 1:

VARISTOCRACY produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1200m on the turf. He raced from a handy position and stayed on nicely to finish second. He found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that he had been showing good work back at home. The son of Var would have come on from the run and in this type of field, he should take a power of beating.

ROYAL VIRTUE showed good improvement in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He makes his debut for Frank Robinson after returning from a 22-week break. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and if suited to the surface, he should pose a threat.

SERENA SLAM is a filly taking on the males. She ran a good race when finishing third in her last start over this C&D. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 2:

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is QUENANZA from the Garth Puller stable. She has fair recent form to her credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last start has come out and won. Lyle Hewitson takes the ride and she can shed her maiden tag.

PRINCESS SABRINA showed good improvement when finishing second over this C&D last time. She lost two lengths at the start, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. Jason Gates retains the ride and she should be one of the leading contenders.

TRENADORA showed some improvement in her last start before given a 17-week break. She does not meet the strongest field on her return and if not in need of the run, she can earn a cheque.

Race 3:

DOUBLE EDGE found betting support when finishing fourth over this distance on the turf. He was slow into stride, but ran on well. The son of Twice Over would have come on from the run and if suited to the surface, he should shed his maiden tag.

DIEDI is still a maiden after 10 starts but has decent recent form lines to his credit. He was unlucky last time as he had to switch at a crucial stage in the race. Richard Fourie takes the ride this afternoon and the combination merit healthy respect.

GUY FOX showed very good improvement in his last start over this distance on the turf. Ashton Arries retains the ride and if repeating that effort, he should earn a cheque.

Race 4:

PAPILLION challenged strongly in her last start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, but found one too good in the form of Emerald Isla. She jumps from pole position this afternoon and should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

RUBY SKY ran a fair race in her last start over this distance on the turf. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and he may be able to get the best out of the daughter of Act Of War.

MAXINE DU MONDE should have won last time as she hung in the closing stages. She is having her second run after a rest and should strip much fitter. With a bit of luck from her outside barrier position, she should earn a cheque.

Race 5:

FLOWER SEASON showed some improvement in her stable debut over 1400m. She has finished second twice and third twice from seven starts over this distance. The daughter of Marchfield takes a drop in class and with Keagan de Melo in the saddle, she can cause the upset.

ROYAL KITTY finished 0.15 lengths behind EAGER DUCHESS last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck from her wide draw, she should be competitive.

HOT MONEY won a good race in her last start over 1400m. It must be noted that there have been multiple winners from that form line. She has a good draw of four and merits healthy respect.

Race 6:

This is a weak Merit Rated 72 Handicap and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is RAMCHANDANI ROAD from the Pat Lunn stable. He showed good improvement in his stable debut over this C&D, five weeks ago. It must be noted that there have been multiple winners from that form line. From his good draw of three, he may be the one to side with.

LIVING WATERS is much better than his last start at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He runs well for Warren Kennedy and should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

PERFECTLY PUTT ran a fair race in his comeback run over 1600m. He lost a length at the start, but stayed on nicely at the finish. He should strip a much fitter horse and can run into the money.

Race 7:

HIGH VELOCITY showed some signs of a form return in his last start over this distance on the turf. It must be noted that there have been multiple winners from his last form line. The son of Elusive Fort takes a drop in class and with Lyle Hewitson in the saddle, he should return to winning ways.

MONTANA SKY has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts over this C&D. The son of Pomodoro merits healthy respect.

TWO OF US won a good race in his last start over a mile at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should earn a cheque.

Race 8:

SOFIA ERIN makes her debut for the Duncan Howells stable. She ran a good race in her last start over 1000m on this course. The 18-week break would have done her the world of good. She takes a slight drop in class and if not in need of the run, she should go close to winning.

STAR CHOICE’S last two starts over 1400m have been good. She has won once and finished third twice from four starts over this distance. She should be one of the leading contenders.

SILVER DAZZLE had good consistent form lines before the 27-week break. She has finished second twice and third three times from as many starts over this distance. If returning fit, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 9:

JUSTAGUYTHING has finished third in his last two starts. It must be noted that Antigonus has come out and won again since. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from eight starts over this C&D. From his good draw of three, he can return to winning ways.

DURAN finished 2.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

WINTER WAVES finished 2.75 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the tables
