Race 1
INAFIX made the expected natural improvement when second in his last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. He showed good speed, but was outrun late by Circus Lights. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he can go one better.
MASK ON showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If confirming his recent improvement, he should pose a threat.
VICTOR RAIL has good consistent form lines to his credit. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and he may be rewarded for consistency.
Race 2
MIA‘S ATHENA finished 2.7 lengths behind BONNE BOUCHE last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. She tries the polytrack for the first time and if suited, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
BONNE BOUCHE was an easy winner of her last start over 1200m on the turf. She received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
SHIPHOLIA fought hard for her last victory in the Non- Black Type New Turf Carriers eThekwini Sprint. She is unbeaten from three starts on this course. If not in need of this outing, she can keep that record intact.
Race 3
ROYAL SWAN MASTER produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. He would have gained from the experience and should love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.
POWER STAR ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick. If keeping on a straight line, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
HELSINKI‘S last two starts have been fair. He is having his first run on this surface and if suited, he can earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 4
LAST ONE STANDING followed up his maiden victory with a fair fifth-place finish over 2000m on this course. The 1900m should be right up his alley and if this run has not come too soon, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
JOHNNY THE THIEF was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over 1600m on this course. He does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
LADY CANTON has produced two good third place finishes over 2000m on this course. She comes into this contest well weighted and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 5
MEXICAN PETE followed up his debut win with an impressive victory over this C&D. He took the lead at the 300m mark that day and drew clear of the opposition. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He does take another rise in class, but is above average and can remain unbeaten.
BOWIE is better than his last start over 1400m on this course. His penultimate run when second behind Passage Of Power catches the eye. Athandiwe Mgudlwa steps back into the saddle which is a big plus.
FORMAGEAR ran a fair race in a Pinnacle Stakes race last time. He finished 0.05 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
Race 6
KING OF THE GAULS was ultra-impressive when winning his maiden at the second time of asking. He showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. He does take on stronger, but looks to have ability and he can follow up.
STANLEY PARK has good recent form lines to his credit. His best form has been under Serino Moodley. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
RAFA‘S BOY finished 0.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. He is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.
Race 7
STEVIE GEE finished 1.15 lengths behind PORFIRIO last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Crusade has dropped to a competitive rating and with luck from his awkward draw of eight, he can return to winning ways.
PORFIRIO is a winner of his last three starts, the latest of which was over a mile on this course. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD ran a good race in his last start over this distance on the turf. He has won once and finished second three times from seven starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 8
SLEEK AS SILK ran on from far back when winning her last start over this C&D. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba retains the ride and from her good draw of two, she can follow up.
ZINIKELE is better than her last start over the mile. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. If not in need of the run, she should pose a threat.
