Race 1

LADIES DAY’S last three starts have been good. She showed good speed in her last outing over this C&D and stayed on nicely to finish third. She jumps from a good draw of four and in this type of field, she may be rewarded for consistency.

NAMAQUA DOVE finished 2.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. The 12-week break would have done her the world of good and she can fill the exacta spot.

MY ELOUISE is much better than her last start as she raced green and shifted away from the crop in the straight. Her debut run when finishing third over this C&D catches the eye. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Rachel Venniker steps back into the saddle and she would not be a surprise winner.

Race 2

SPARKLING FLAME has good consistent form lines to her credit. She stayed on at the finish over 1900m last time, but found one too good in the form of Rotunda. She should enjoy the extra 100m on offer and can shed her maiden tag.

TOP TEN finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

SIEGE OF ORLEANS has fair recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. She is carded to race on 16 January 2022 and her progress in that race will need to be checked.

Race 3

ONE SHOT WONDER has shown good improvement in his last two starts. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he shifted inwards at the 250m mark. The son of Visionaire may be at his best over this distance. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

MCCARTNEY has shown good improvement in each of his efforts to date. He set the pace in his comeback run last time and was reported to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. He tries the Polytrack and if suited to the surface, he should pose a threat. He is carded to race on 16 January 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be checked.

FIRU STAR produced a promising debut effort over 1400m on this course. He returns from a 12-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He drops back to the 1200m and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 4

VUNDERBAR finished 0.55 lengths behind HAMPTON COURT last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights this afternoon which is enough for the tables to be turned. He was unlucky that day as he had to be switched at the 200m mark and was reported to be coughing. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he can return to winning ways. He is carded to race on 16 January 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be checked.

HAMPTON COURT has good consistent form lines to his credit. Three of his four career victories have come over this C&D. He shows good speed in his races and may be hard to peg back.

ALPHAMIKEFOXTROT was reported to have been cut into on his right hind leg last time. He has won twice and finished second once from seven starts over this C&D. From his good draw of two, he may be the one to cause the upset.

Race 5

BOOGIE SHOES’ last two starts were good. She had to overcome a wide draw last time, but the manner in which she ran on at the finish was encouraging. She finished 1.55 lengths behind FLOWER SEASON in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck in running, she can return to winning ways.

FLOWER SEASON has good recent form lines to her credit. She takes a slight step up in class, but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and will be staying on at the finish.

BRUNILDA stayed on at the finish last time, but found one too good in the form of Freedom Seeker. She has finished second once and third three times from as many starts over this C&D. She always gives of her best and must be included in all bets.

Race 6

CRAZY BLUES followed up her maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over 1200m on the turf. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day suggests that she will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Rachel Venniker retains the ride and from her mid-field draw, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

LADY YUSRA finished 1.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

HOT MONEY has shown good signs of a form return in her last two starts. She has won once, finished second twice and third twice from eight starts over this C&D. The cheekpieces remain fitted and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 7

MEET AT THE GEORGE was her own worst enemy in the Grade 3 Flamboyant Stakes last time as she overraced in the early stages. She finished 0.1 lengths behind TWICETHEQUALITY in her penultimate run and is 0.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is having her third run after a rest today and should be at peak fitness.

TWICETHEQUALITY finished 1 length behind CHANTY LANE last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

CHANTY LANE was running on well to finish second over 1400m on the turf last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has cracked a good draw of four and will be fighting out the finish.

Race 8

BUGSY MALONE had to be eased at the 1400m mark last time, but stayed on nicely at the finish. He is unbeaten from two starts on this course. The 5yo gelding will love the extra furlong on offer and with a bit of luck in running, he should be the one to beat.

HUMBLE TUNE hails from the visiting Candice Dawson stable. He set the pace over 2000m last time, but was outrun in the latter stages. He jumps from a much better barrier position today and if suited to the surface, he should pose a threat.

MONARCHY won a good race in his last start over this distance on the turf. He set the pace and despite hanging, he fought hard to keep all challengers at bay. From his mid-field draw, he should contest the finish
