Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1

WINTER ROYALE is the narrow first selection in this open looking Maiden Plate. He ran a fair race in his last start over 1800m on this course. The son of Twice Over will love the drop back to the mile and gets the cheekpieces fitted for the first time. From his good draw of three, he may be the one to side with.

ONE MORE TRICK took on winners in a feature race on Vodacom Durban July day on debut. He returns from a 12-week break today, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Twice Over drops to Maiden Company this afternoon and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, he should make a natural improvement.

MOUNT ATHOS hails from the visiting Sean Tarry stable. He has some fair recent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last start has come out and won since. He tries the Polytrack and if suited to the surface, he should be competitive.

Race 2

LADY YUSRA has shown improvement in each of her outings to date. She was running on nicely at the finish over 1400m last time and will love the step up to the mile. The daughter of Silvano does not meet the strongest field today and should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

ROY’S ROCKER showed very good improvement in her last start with the blinkers fitted over this C&D. Despite racing wide around the turn, she stayed on nicely to finish third. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MISS JACQUELINE finished 1.65 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms this afternoon and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

THE GREEN GALLANT was unlucky not to have won last time. He was awkwardly placed at the 1300m mark, but the manner in which he ran on at the finish was eye-catching. He should enjoy the step up to the 1900m and with a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to beat.

YOUNG NELSON was his own worst enemy over this C&D last time as he overraced in the early stages. The blinkers remain fitted this afternoon and if Serino Moodley is able to switch him off early, he should run a big race.

ARUMUGAM is lightly raced with some decent form lines to his credit. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise in distance. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should earn another cheque.

Race 4

MAXIUMUS produced a decent comeback run over a distance short of his best last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He will love the step up in trip and takes a slight drop in class. He should strip much fitter and can return to winning ways.

RADAMES followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 1400m on the turf. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has cracked a good draw and should strip much fitter. He runs well on this surface and should throw out a big challenge to the top choice

THE APPEAL’S last four starts have been good. It must be noted that You Deserve It has come out and won again since. He will be staying on at the business end.

Race 5

BRANDENBURG was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. He set the pace and won with a ton in hand. The Nathan Kotzen stable is in red-hot form and all his horses must be followed closely. The 7yo gelding tries the 1700m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can notch up his fifth career victory.

CAESURA ran a good race in his last start over 1600m on the Polytrack. He finished 2.35 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate start. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights this afternoon and should finish closer as a result.

PREDATOR followed up his maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1800m on this course. He clipped heels at the 1700m mark that day which didn’t help his chances. With a bit of luck in running, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

FATE OF FORTUNE was an impressive winner on debut over 1200m on this course. Despite losing two lengths at the start, the manner in which he ran on at the finish was eye-catching. The son of Master Of My Fate found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that he had been showing good work back at home. He does take on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

METEORIC won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course. The manner in which she races suggests that she will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. If suited to the surface, she should run a big race.

JUAN CARLOS returns from a 30-week break and has his first run for the Gareth van Zyl stable. The son of Frankel has some class about him and if not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 7

ELUSIVE CURRENT finished 0.3 lengths behind MEET AT THE GEORGE last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this distance. From her good draw of three, she may be the one to side with.

MEET AT THE GEORGE stayed on nicely at the finish last time, but found one too good in the form of Glory Days. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from eight starts over this distance. The daughter of Vercingetorix cannot be ignored.

SPIRITOFTHEGROOVE has shown some signs of a form return in her last two starts. She has finished second once and third once from three starts on this course. The daughter of Visionaire is having her second run after a rest today and should strip much fitter.

Race 8

CHATTERTONS KEEPER finished 0.7 lengths behind RALPH THE RASCAL last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to have his own way in front once again and may be hard to peg back.

RALPH THE RASCAL was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this distance on the turf. He has won twice and finished second once from six starts over this C&D. Anton Marcus takes the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

LETABA stayed on to finish fifth in his comeback run over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He cast a shoe in running that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. He should strip fitter and from his good draw of three, he will fight out the finish.
