Race 1

PEUT ETRE MOI is the best bet on the card. She should have won her last start over this C&D. She was settled near the rear of the field, had to switch at the 400m mark and ran on strongly to finish second. The daughter of Master Of My Fate jumps from a midfield draw and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should take a power of beating under S’manga Khumalo.

ELEODORO is a progressive type who has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Black Path. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She jumps from pole position and is one of the leading contenders.

I’M IN LOVE cost herself at the start last time as she jumped outwards leaving the gates. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. She should strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she merits healthy respect.

Race 2

GENTLEMAN JOE produced a promising debut over this C&D, three weeks ago. He was settled at the rear of the field and the manner in which he finished off his race that day was eye-catching. The son of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he is the horse to beat. He is drawn in pole position which is a big plus.

STEINBECK has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He has been gelded since his last start, which may have been what he needed. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

AL BUGATTI showed good improvement over this C&D with the blinkers fitted. It must be noted that Tout A Fait has come out and won again since. If confirming his recent improvement, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

CAPTAIN DIZZY is the value bet on the programme. He has been taking on stronger company in recent outings. He showed good speed over 1200m last time and tired late. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts over this C&D. The son of Captain Of All takes a drop in class and can return to winning ways.

KALAHARI FERRARI is much better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Need For Speed Sprint as he was reported to be not striding out and making an abnormal respiratory noise. His form prior to that run was encouraging and he should pose a massive threat.

TRANSACT raced from just off the pace last time and challenged strongly all the way to the line, but found one too good in the form of Future Prince. He finished 4 lengths behind the second choice, three runs ago. He is only 1kg better off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 4

HYDE PARK was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1600m. He should have finished closer that day as he hung outwards in the closing stages. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this distance. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and if getting his own way in front, he may be hard to peg back.

LOOK FOR HOUNDS finished 2.4 lengths behind BUSH TRACKER last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he should be right there.

WARRIOR is better than his last start in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate as he was reported to be fatigued. His form prior to that outing was good. Grant van Niekerk steps back into the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.

Race 5

This is a competitive Summer Juvenile Stakes field and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is COUSIN CASEY from the Glen Kotzen stable. The good looking son of Vercingetorix produced a promising debut effort when finishing 1.05 lengths behind STREET OUTLAW. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.

STREET OUTLAW won a good race on debut over this C&D, despite racing green. He found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. The son of Master Of My Fate could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

WE’RE JAMMING raced from a prominent position last time and tried hard all the way to the line. The son of Duke Of Marmalade looks to be a progressive type and merits obvious inclusion under Richard Fourie.

Race 6

ZAPATILLAS was not disgraced when finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Cape Guineas last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he can notch up his third career victory.

UNIVERSAL should have finished much closer in the Grade 1 Cape Guineas as he had to check badly at the 400m mark. The son of Gimmethegreenlight should have no issues with the 1800m and from pole position, he should pose a massive threat.

PACAYA ran a decent race when finishing 3.8 lengths behind Jet Dark in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate last time. The son of Trippi is bred to enjoy the 1800m and he has plenty of class. S’manga Khumalo was aboard the colt when winning on debut and the combination merit healthy respect.

Race 7

RIO QUERARI produced a very good seasonal debut last time when running on strongly to place second. He finished 0.2 lengths behind REAL GONE KID that day and is 3kgs better off at the weights. The 5yo gelding has won three times, finished second twice and third twice from as many starts over this distance. He should strip a much fitter horse today and can notch up his seventh career victory.

REAL GONE KID won his last start a lot easier than the official margin suggests. He is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. The son of Snitzel shows good speed in his races and may be hard to peg back.

The classy KASIMIR should have finished closer to the second choice last time as he hung in the closing stages. He has won three times, finished second three times and third twice from eleven starts over this C&D. Bernard Fayd’Herbe retains the ride and the combination can run into the placings.

Race 8

CAPTAIN’S RANSOM was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes last time. Despite hanging from the 200m mark, she lasted just long enough. The daughter of Captain Al won this race last year by 3.25 lengths. She is drawn widest of all, but Richard Fourie knows her well and he will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

CHANSONETTE finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights this afternoon. The daughter of Vercingetorix is unbeaten from two starts over this distance and should go close to winning.

PRINCESS CALLA was doing her best work late when finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes. She has finished second three times and third once from four starts over this distance. The daughter of Flower Alley should be cherry-ripe and can return to winning ways.

Race 9

An exciting field of 11 runners go to post for the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met. KOMMETDIEDING has had the perfect preparation heading into this race. He did his best work late when finishing third in the Non-Black Type Cape Mile and his run in the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate last time was even more encouraging. He will come into this race at peak fitness and from pole position, he should be the one to beat.

JET DARK was ultra-impressive when winning the Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate last time. Despite losing two lengths at the start, he quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The son of Trippi tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should go close to winning.

LINEBACKER is much better than his last start suggests. He is unbeaten from two starts over this distance. It is encouraging that Grant van Niekerk steps back into the saddle and the combination cannot be ignored.

Race 10

CROME YELLOW won a good race in the Grade 3 Cape Summer Stayers Handicap last time. Despite getting off to a slow start, the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. The 7yo gelding steps back over the 2800m and he should strip much fitter. Grant van Niekerk knows him well and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

DOUBLEMINT produced a strong finish to win his last start over 2500m in the Grade 3 Chairman’s Cup. He is very well-weighted in this contest and can follow up.

SPARKLING WATER hails from the visiting Mike de Kock stable. The manner in which she won her last start over 2400m at Turffontein was eye-catching. If seeing out the extra 400m on offer, she should go close to winning.

Race 11

IZAPHA has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He was his own worst enemy last time as he overraced in the early stages. He should have no issues with the drop back to 1400m. The son of Soft Falling Rain takes a drop in class and if Grant van Niekerk is able to switch him off early, he may be the one to beat.

HAN SOLO won a good race in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he quickened up and drew clear of the opposition was encouraging. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PAPER TRAIL finished 3 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 12

This is a competitive Merit Rated 75 Handicap for the girls. REGINA ISABELLA won a good race when taking on stronger over 1600m on this course. She finished third in her only attempt over this distance. The daughter of Twice Over takes a drop in class and from her handy draw, she should be the one to side with.

ADDERBURY LAKE was given a strong ride to win her last start over this C&D. She has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this C&D. She does have the widest draw to overcome, but she is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

LILLYBELLE finished 2.05 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
