Race 1

IMPOSING has raced in Graded events in his last two starts. It must be noted that Cousin Casey has come out and won a Grade 1 since. His penultimate run in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion over this C&D was encouraging. The son of Visionaire returns to Maiden Company and if putting his best foot forward, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

DIRECTOR’S CUT is an unraced son of Gimmethegreenlight from the Dean Kannemeyer yard with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. He is related to four-time winner On Captain’s Side. If not too green, he should get his career off to a positive start. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

LAST SURVIVOR ran a fair race in his last start over 1100m on this course. The son of Pomodoro is a progressive type and may have more to come.

Race 2

SEE IT AGAIN produced a promising debut effort over this C&D, eight weeks ago. He showed good pace, understandably raced green and rallied late to finish second. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of Twice Over would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can go one better.

CHEEKY LADDIE is an unraced son of Gimmethegreenlight from the Dean Kannemeyer yard with Keagan de Melo up. He is related to multiple winners including Sovereign Secret and Secret Dynasty. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

LAZY GUY showed good pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Strawberry Bear. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The 5yo gelding merits healthy respect.

Race 3

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BLAZING LIGHT from the Dennis Drier yard. He ran a decent race when third over 1800m on the Polytrack last time. He has finished third on this course in the past. The son of Rafeef should have no issues with the rise to 2400m and he can shed his maiden tag.

MONSIEUR CHEVELLE has run two fair races since returning from a 12-week break. He finished third in his only attempt over this distance. The son of Admiral Kitten will be at peak fitness for this run and is one of the leading contenders.

TAKE TO WAR ran a fair race when second over this C&D last time. He was reported to be fatigued post-race. He should be cherry- ripe for this outing and from his good draw of two, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 4

JAZZBELLA ran a good race when finishing third on debut over 1200m. She was slow into stride, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural progression that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

BERENGARIA hails from the visiting Barend Botes and Yolandie Vosloo yard. She showed good improvement in her last start over this distance at the Vaal. She does have the pace to overcome her wide draw and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

COFFEEBERRY should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had no luck in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 5

IMITATION GAME finished 1.75 lengths behind QUEST FOR THE BEST last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. From his handy draw of five, he may be the one to side with.

QUEST FOR THE BEST has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will enjoy the rise to 1400m. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should pose a massive threat.

PROTEA PRIDE showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1200m on the Polytrack. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is better suited to this distance and if confirming his recent improvement, he should run into the money.

Race 6

DAWNOFANEWDAY was running on when second over 1500m last time. It must be noted that Humdinger has come out and won a Listed race since. The daughter of Futura takes a drop in class and from pole position, she should be too good for this field.

TRUMP MY QUEEN raced wide around the turn last time and understandably weakened in the straight. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She continues to drop in the ratings and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BINGIN BEACH ran a good race when second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. She moved up like a winner, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Lady Tiptree. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and she merits healthy respect.

Race 7

SWEET SYMPHONY showed some signs of needing her comeback run over this C&D last time. The daughter of Twice Over takes a big drop in class and will strip a much fitter horse. Her best form has been under Serino Moodley and if jumping on terms, she can return to winning ways.

PELARGONIUM showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m under Hennie Greyling. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. If confirming her recent improvement, she should go close to winning.

BECKONING BEAUTY is a winner of her last two starts over this distance on the Polytrack. She has won twice from four starts over this C&D. She received a five-pound penalty for her last victory and can notch up the hat-trick.

Race 8

HARLEY’S FATE was a shock winner on debut over 1000m on this course. The manner in which she quickened up and ran on was eye-catching. The daughter of Master Of My Fate takes on stronger, but she could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

GRUE OF ICE stayed on when third over this C&D last time. She takes a drop in class and has dropped to a competitive mark. Calvin Habib takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

CASA ROSADA has decent recent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from eleven starts over this distance. She will be staying on at the business end.

Race 9

CAVALIERI was an easy winner in his last start over 1400m. The manner in which he quickened up and drew clear of the opposition was encouraging. He finished 0.3 lengths behind LETABA in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The 6yo gelding will be mowing down the frontrunners.

BOTZ was running on when second over this C&D last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the son of William Longsword. If jumping on terms, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

LETABA is better than his last start as he had to be steadied and switched at the 250m mark. He has won once and finished second twice from seven starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should be competitive
