Race 4: MAHIR(5)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SAN ROCHELLE(1)
Jockey: M Yeni  - Trainer: G Smith

SAN ROCHELLE was nabbed late in her first local grass effort and was in turn nearly three lengths clear of the next placed entrant. The former Cape inmate should build on that showing and she can easily go one better here.

Race 4: LA SCALA(1)
Jockey: L Hewitson  - Trainer: Y Bremner

LA SCALA was comfortably beaten in his five furlong comeback sprint earlier this month but the son of Silvano will strip fitter and is most effective over this distance. It could pay to follow the progress of Rebel Wilson (runs in race 2) as the top selection represents the same recent formline.

TOP BET

Race 6: UNION JACK(6)
Jockey: G Cheyne  - Trainer: A Greeff

UNION JACK had a really smart first outing in this province a fortnight ago when the new recruit to the Greeff stable stayed on strongly for 3rd behind two classy speedsters and he will certainly strip fitter now. Admittedly, he isn't favourably weighted on official ratings which are deceptive as the best weighted entrant BRUTAL FORCE has lost his way completely and prefers shorter whilst MIRACLE BUREAU has produced his best local form on the polytrack.

Race 7: MY WORLD(4)
Jockey: C Murray   - Trainer: Tara Laing

The day's topliner is a two-mile listed contest where a dozen competitive stayers do battle. The Tara Laing stable is well-represented and the yard's preference MY WORLD can build on his smart first start for his new conditioner. The six-year old former Cape resident finished strongly when pipped by the useful KINGSTON MINES over a mile and a half in his comeback run four weeks ago. He only meets the latter on 0.5kg better terms but will strip fitter and is also proven over the extra ground.

VALUE BET

Race 1: CAPE LEOPARD(5)
Jockey: K Zechner   - Trainer: J Strydom

CAPE LEOPARD hasn't disgraced himself in back-to-back features after posting a career best effort in open company over a mile on the polytrack. He should prove equally effective on the grass and should be highly competitive back in maiden company.
