TOP BET

Race 1: COAL(6)
Jockey: L HEWITSON - Trainer: BREMNER

The Bremner stable holds a decent hand in this opening contest with riding engagements favouring COAL who has produced three useful attempts to date. The bay gelding handled this surface well when going close over the minimum trip early last month and has a good draw this time around

Race 4: JIKA(2)
Jockey: G CHEYNE - Trainer: A GREEFF

The ultra-consistent former Gauteng resident JIKA hit his top stride late on local debut over shorter on this track last month and the mile should suit him perfectly. He should easily handle the slightly stronger opposition but picked up a rather surprising two pound penalty

Race 5: SEATTLE SPELL(9)
Jockey: L HEWITSON    - Trainer: Y BREMNER

The American Captain c & d formline is well-represented in this competitive handicap and SEATTLE SPELL relished the extra ground when narrowly beaten into 2nd after adopting frontrunning tactics in that event. He had ROKATENDA half a length adrift but is only 0.5kg worse off and could be the one to beat despite the resultant three pound penalty

Race 8: GREEN FIELD(12)
Jockey: R MUNGER  - Trainer: Y BREMNER

The Bremner yard is again well-represented in this contest and GREEN FIELD should build on his improved last outing over a mile on this course. His only career triumph came over this distance and the son of Marchfield will be aided by a good draw. He should be able to track his frontrunning stable companion HIGH DEFINITION who could be his biggest danger with the 4kgs claiming apprentice retaining the mount

VALUE BET

Race 6: NAUTICUS(7)
Jockey: K MINNIE   - Trainer: T LAING

NAUTICUS will prefer the slight drop in distance and class and the bay gelding could take full advantage of a recent five pound dock in his merit rating. The capable five-year old produced his best local performance over this c & d behind subsequent winner Counting Stars earlier this campaign. The costly to follow AVIEMORE is c & d suited and in fact finished just over one length in front of the top selection on 17/08 though the unfavourable 1.5kgs weight turnaround should bring the pair closer together
