The Tarry yard is extremely well-represented in this assessment contest which favours the top weight SOCIAL ORDER who has his seasonal debut. The bay son of Count Dubois had a cracking last campaign before an excusable run in KZN on 'July Day' and he drops significantly in class here. He should be charging at his lesser rivals in the closing stages

Jockey: C Maujean - Trainer: G Woodruff 

The switch of tracks will be a huge advantage for the Woodruff inmate ZOUAVES who has been defeated just once from four starts on this course. The consistent bay gelding will strip fitter after his decent comeback run at a high level last month and he jumps from a good draw which isn't the case for his main rival MARDI GRAS whose preparations have been hampered by the recent farce at the Vaal

This is a most intriguing Middle Stakes event where collateral form and the betting market may not tell the full story. The change of jockey on the capable six-year old mare PARISIENNE CHIC could be of huge significance and the daughter of Bankable has definite claims of reversing the recent form with conqueror KNYSNA ROSE (4kgs worse off). Of course she was given a really ordinary ride that day

The smart DIVINE ODYSSEY appeared in need of his seasonal debut behid subsequent winner Puget Sound but will strip much fitter and could show his true worth here. He meets the equally quality SOLDIER ON on 0.5kg better terms for that three parts of a length defeat and there should again be little to choose between the pair who are drawn right next to each other at the rail. The latter does prefer slightly further though so the decision to equip him with blinkers by his wily old conditioner isn't surprising but the chestnut gelding could have his work cut out to confirm the formline. The injury plagued seven-year old CHEPARDO had an exciting comeback run following a 24 week absence and the 10th placed entrant Classify (runs in prior event) lifted that formline with a game victory in midweek. This chestnut will also be fitter and he deserves respect despite perhaps being one run short. COUNT TASSILO has a little to find with the latter on their clash last month and the Tarry inmate is also drawn wide but will be running on at the finish. LAKE KINNERET has a huge task at this level but the lightweight has much going for him as he aims to improve on his dismal track record.
