Race 3: SILVEZ(12)
Jockey: L Hewitson - Trainer: S Tarry

The grey filly SILVEZ had an eye-catching debut in a competitive field at Turffontein last month and it must be noted that she was carded to race at the same venue on 07/04. She finished just under two lengths ahead of the well-tried ENSEMBLE that day and should confirm the form if she takes her place in this line-up. The latter had a decent subsequent effort over further though and she seems to prefer sprinting. She should still be competitive on her peak showing.

Jockey: C Zackey - Trainer: E Verdonese

STAR OF JOBURG has lots of potential and he was immediately rested after a below-par last attempt on his handicap debut. Interestingly, the bay was gelded during the 16 week absence and he should realize his earlier potential.

Race 5: HOT TALENT(5)
Jockey: P Strydom   - Trainer: D Stenger

This is a tricky nine furlong contest which may be run at a sedate gallop and the brilliance of top veteran rider Strydom could come to the fore on the likely dictator HOT TALENT. This chestnut filly failed to quicken over this c & d last time but she had promising post maiden form prior to that. She finished just over half a length adrift of MONARCH AIR in that latest effort and the formline has worked out.

Race 6: TENDRE(3)
Jockey: P Strydom  - Trainer: J Soma

This is another intriguing contest and top jockey Strydom could again dictate terms to great effect aboard the useful stayer TENDRE who has his peak showing. This four-year old gelding needed both his comeback runs after the 25 week absence and it was fairly evident that he was given a 'soft' ride by today's pilot ten days. He has been successful with frontrunning tactics in the past and isn't too badly weighted here.

Jockey: L Hewitson  - Trainer - Janse van Vuuren

The lightly raced MADEMOISELLE is plainly better on good ground and she quickly return to form with a fair last run. The bay daughter of Var only tired late that day when a neck adrift of AN AIR OF SUCCESS (1kg better off) that day and she certainly has more to offer. She is her red-hot trainer's only entrant on the day.
