TOP BET

Race 3: SHANGHAI TANG(17)
Jockey: L Hewitson  - Trainer: S Tarry

SHANGHAI TANG drifted in the betting market but still produced a high quality debut behind subsequent feature placed entrant Infamous Fox over this c & d six weeks ago. The Tarry inmate finished just a neck in front of the well-tried SWEET TRIAL but clearly has much more to offer and could be worth following.

Race 5: SIM-ALLEY BANK(5)
Jockey: G Lerena  - Trainer: E Verdonese

SIM-ALLEY BANK returned to form when close-up in 4th over this c & d early last month and of course the 5th placed entrant CURBSTONE SHUFFLE (2kgs worse off) caused a major upset when beating a high quality field next time out. This bay mare is well-handicapped and she merits healthy respect. The lightly raced three-year old JAMRA is improving quickly and she caught the eye with a decent last run in her first venture around the bend. The Tarry inmate clearly indicated that she could enjoy this extra furlong and she has more to offer.

Race 6: BUSH PILOT(6)
Jockey: G Lerena    - Trainer: G Woodruff

BUSH PILOT quickly regained his form when staying on to finish in the money over a similar trip on this track nine days ago and he should be competitive again. PACHUCO had two eye-catching recent runs, the latest behind TRIP TO PARADISE over slightly shorter and he is weighted to finish much closer to the latter today.

Race 8: THE TIN MAN(5)
Jockey: G Lerena   - Trainer: L Erasmus

THE TIN MAN is overdue his next career victory and a more manageable weight could seriously aid his cause here. It is most encouraging that his top jockey retains the ride after the pair tired late into 3rd on yielding ground recently. His fellow three-year old DORMAN wasn't disgraced from a wide draw in a much stronger line-up recently where he finished just a neck adrift of the 3rd placed entrant Mohallela (ran on Tuesday). The bay gelding had an eye-catching winning performance over this c & d in his penultimate start.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 4: COTTON ROCK(8)
Jockey: M Yeni   - Trainer - G Terzi

COTTON ROCK had a fair last run from a wide draw and rather interestingly the 5th placed entrant African Dynasty accounted for all the above rivals when winning her subsequent start. This lightly raced four-year old gets an in-form jockey up and she merits healthy respect.
