TOP BET

Race 3: ROCK SENSATION(6)
Jockey: C ZACKEY  - Trainer: C DAWSON

ROCK SENSATION was considered good enough to contest the Nursery second time out and though she performed poorly that day, she had a legitimate excuse and would have benefitted from the nine week rest. The daughter of Seventh Rock finished strongly for a close 2nd over this distance on debut prior to that and she can bounce right back in maiden class today.

Race 4: MASTER BOULDER(11)
Jockey: M MJOKA  - Trainer: P MATCHETT

MASTER BOULDER confirmed his recent progress when he ran on smartly for a close 3rd over seven furlongs at a similar level nine days ago. He finished exactly two lengths ahead of CHAPEL JIVE that day and is arguably better over this shorter trip. The latter is an improving three-year old though but he does have his work cut-out to reverse that latest effort.

Race 5: ZERODARKTHIRTY(11)
Jockey: L HEWITSON   - Trainer: S TARRY

ZERODARKTHIRTY had too much to do from his wide draw over a mile recently but he should be a different proposition from his good barrier position here. The 7th (Norland) and 5th (Time To Be Great) placed entrants fought out a close finish to boost that formline subsequently.

Race 7: COME THE DAY(1)
Jockey: R MUNGER   - Trainer: C ERASMUS

This is plainly a really moderate maiden contest and extreme caution is advised. The lightly raced three-year old COME THE DAY appeared in desperate need of his poor comeback run but showed decent potential prior to that and he will be fitter today. The form of that last run was franked though as the 3rd placed entrant Gift For The Gap beat older rivals in his subsequent outing.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: THE SMELL OF RAIN(11)
Jockey: D SAMPSON   - Trainer - E VERDONESE

THE SMELL OF RAIN continues to drop in the merit ratings and she wasn't disgraced when racing wide in her fair last start at a similar level. She was docked a further three pounds in her rating and is capable over the mile. The hat-trick seeking POORMANSLADY is still improving but faces another stern test after the resultant five pound penalty for her easy last triumph over weaker opposition.
