Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: NEW ZEALAND(1)
Jockey: L Hewitson   - Trainer: S Tarry

The well-bred Tarry inmate NEW ZEALAND has shown promise in her short career and she finished well for 2nd behind subsequent winner and Guineas hopeful Awfaa in her comeback run over a mile seven weeks ago. The 3rd placed entrant Tigerlace boosted that formline further with two subsequent victories and this chestnut daughter of Trippi should continue to improve.

Race 3: FLAMING HOT(4)
Jockey: R Danielson   Trainer: G Woodruff

The four-year old FLAMING HOT made huge improvement when equipped with blinkers in just her third start. She ran on smartly for 2nd in a competitive line-up over shorter despite being in season and the imported daughter of Flying Spur should relish the extra on her pedigree.

Race 5: BUSH PILOT(10)
Jockey: C Maujean    - Trainer: G Woodruff

The Woodruff yard holds a decent hand in this wide open handicap and the slight preference is for the well-handicapped entrant BUSH PILOT who has gradually come to form since returning from that lengthy 45 week absence. The chestnut gelding caught the eye when running on well over a mile despite his jockey's saddle slipping a fortnight ago and he will enjoy this extra furlong.

Jockey: G Lerena   - Trainer: Janse van Vurren

MADEMOISELLE was fancied when she drew off to record an impressive debut win over a similar trip on the Classic Track last month and the daughter of Var could be better than rated on her handicap debut. She gets the top services of Gavin Lerena.SHORTSTOP was given a top ride from an unfavourable draw as he won his recent six furlong effort on this course and the son of Rebel King is even better over this extra furlong. He can still defy the resultant four pound penalty and has huge claims of following up.

Race 8: SHOGUN(12)
Jockey: R Munger    - Trainer:  O Ferraris

The consistent SHOGUN is gradually reaching a potentially winning merit rating and he is capable of better than his below-par last run, the formline of which must be monitored by the progress of Seal My Fate in the prior event. This Dynasty gelding is drawn best of all over an ideal c & d and he meets today's likely favourite SHENANIGANS on 4kgs better terms for a 1.75 lengths defeat.
