Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: DESERT PRIDE (5)
Jockey: Hewitson L - Trainer: Tarry S

DESERT PRIDE with Lyle Hewitson in the saddle is the confident first selection. She produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. The manner in which she finished off her race that day caught the eye. The daughter of Pomodoro would have gained from the experience and should improve to go one better here. She is however carded to race on 19 November 2020 and her progress in that race will need to be checked.

Race 4: ECSTATIC GREEN (13)
Jockey: Hewitson L - Trainer: Tarry S

ECSTATIC GREEN is one of the better bets on this afternoon's card. She had to overcome the widest draw over 1400m in the Starling Stakes and is much better than that effort suggests. Her two efforts prior to that over 1200m catch the eye. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight clearly has plenty of ability and with just 52kgs on her back today, she can get back to winning ways.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 6: MOUNT PLEASANT (1)
Jockey: Murray C - Trainer: De Kock M

MOUNT PLEASANT is the best bet on the card. He was ultra-impressive when winning his last start in the Joburg Spring Challenge. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests he will be even better over the mile. From pole position, he should keep his unbeaten record intact.

Race 8: WAR OF ATHENA (9)
Jockey: Yeni M - Trainer: Matchett P

WAR OF ATHENA produced a strong finish when beaten by the narrowest of margins in the Ready To Run Cup last time. She has won twice, finished second once and third twice from six starts on this course. The daughter of Act Of War takes on older rivals this afternoon, but she carries just 51kgs on her back which should help her cause. From pole position, she may be the one to side with.

VALUE BET

Race 9: IMPERIAL RUBY (3)
Jockey: Zackey C - Trainer: Spies C

IMPERIAL RUBY found the 1800m in the Victory Moon Stakes on the sharp side for him last time. The son of Silvano won the Gold Bowl over this distance back in June. He finished 2 lengths behind ODD ROB in his penultimate start and is 1.5kgs better off at the weights. That may not be enough to turn the tables, but he is much better suited to this trip and can turn the form around
