Top Bet For Today

Race 2: BUCK’S FIZZ (1)
Jockey: Domeyer A – Trainer: Fortune A

BUCK’S FIZZ followed up his maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1200m at the Vaal against stronger. The manner in which he ran on at the finish that day suggests that he will love the extra distance on offer. He won his maiden on this course and despite having to carry top weight of 62kgs, he should be too good for this field.

Race 4: CAPTAIN LANNISTE (2)
Jockey: Domeyer A – Trainer: Fortune A

CAPTAIN LANNISTER was not disgraced when finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion last time. He returns from a 23-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Captain Of All looks to have class about him and with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle, he should be the one to beat.

Race 5: BARNEYS PRIDE (3)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Magner R

BARNEYS PRIDE’S last two starts after returning from a 14-week break have been good. He stayed on nicely at the finish over 1200m last time. The son of Greys Inn will enjoy the rise to the mile. He should be cherry-ripe and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, he should return to winning ways.

Race 6: LION OF THE DESE (1)
Jockey: Danielson R – Trainer: Tarry S

LION OF THE DESERT ran on powerfully to win his last start over 1500m on the Vaal Classic course. The son of Twice Over will be at home over the extra 100m on offer. He received a five-pound penalty and against a similar type of field, he can notch up the hat-trick. FSQUADRON’S last three starts have been fair. He takes a slight drop in class this afternoon and Gavin Lerena may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Value Bet For Today

Race 1: KOOL BAIKAL (4)
Jockey: Munger R – Trainer: Sage R

KOOL BAIKAL showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 2200m on this course. He was reported to be fatigued that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. It must be noted that Shangani has come out and won again since. Ryan Munger retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure
