Winning Form Best Bets

Race 4: PSYCHO KING (1)
Race 5: FULL MAST (4)
Race 6: FACT (7)
Race 9: RIO'S WINTER (1)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: TAKAGARI (9)
Jockey: G Lerena - Trainer: R Sage

TAKAGARI was all at sea in the early stages of the race on debut. The son of Judpot finished off his race strongly and with the natural improvement that is expected today, he should be right there at the finish. Gavin Lerena retains the ride from a better draw.

Race 6: MARSHALL FOCH (6)
Jockey: W Kennedy - Trainer: P Peter

MARSHALL FOCH was an easy winner of his last start over nine furlongs on this course. He set the pace that day and cruised to victory. He has a good record on this course notching up two wins and a second place finish. He does try the extra furlong this afternoon, but the manner in which he won last time suggests that this should not pose a problem. Warren Kennedy is likely to take him to the front once again and he can notch up the hat-trick.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 9: RIO'S WINTER (1)
Jockey: G Lerena - Trainer: S Moffatt

RIO'S WINTER is the best bet on today's card. She produced two good runs in the SA Fillies Guineas and the Fillies Classic. Her last win came over this distance under today's pilot Gavin Lerena and in this type of field, should be hard to beat.

Race 10: SEVEN PATRIOTS (2)
Jockey: W Kennedy - Trainer: M Azzie

SEVEN PATRIOTS' last race can be completely ignored as he was eased out of the race because he was not striding out. He was an impressive winner in the Egoli Mile in his penultimate outing when setting the pace. He should have no issues with the drop in trip. From pole position and with in-form Warren Kennedy in the saddle, he should be hard to peg back in the closing stages.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: ZEAL AND ZEST (4)
Jockey: G Lerena - Trainer: S Kenny

ZEAL AND ZEST was his own worst enemy at the start last time. He gave away three lengths at the jump that day, but the manner in which he finished off the race was encouraging. He finished a length behind HIT FOR SIX that day, but is 2kgs better off at today's weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. Denis Schwarz knows him well and from a good draw, he may be the one to beat.
