MAPLE SUGAR was beaten by the narrowest of margins in her debut effort over six furlongs on the Classic course. The daughter of Ideal World will be at home over the seven furlongs. She looks to be above average and should go one better here. 

 
Race 5: PURPLE PANTHER (1)
Jockey: Strydom P - Trainer: Binda C

PURPLE PANTHER has finished second in all three outings to date. It must be noted that the form of his last start has been franked. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests he will enjoy the extra distance on offer. Piere Strydom takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. He is carded to race on 24 October 2020 and his progress will need to be checked.

SWEET AND SPICY ran a cracker over a mile on the Classic course last time. She should have won that day as she hung in the latter stages. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight looks to be above average and if keeping on a straight line, she should get back to winning ways.

Jockey: Murray C - Trainer: De Kock M

FIRED UP ran a very good race in a competitive field over a mile on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He set the pace that day and challenged strongly all the way to the line. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. Callan Murray steps back into the saddle and he may be hard to peg back.

SMOKE ran a good race behind subsequent winner, Category Four last time. He returns from a 12-week break today, which may have been what he needed. It is encouraging that Piere Strydom retains the ride and he should go close to winning.
