Race 1 

TIGER STORM has produced two fair runs to date. He lost a length leaving the start last time and stayed on to finish fourth. He has been gelded since that outing which may have done the trick. He meets the right field and if getting away to a clean start, he should be the one to beat.

SUMMER SHADE finished 1.5 lengths behind REMAINS OF THE DAY last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

REMAINS OF THE DAY ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If confirming his recent improvement, he should be competitive.

Race 2

BELLISSIVAR showed good speed over this C&D last time before getting caught late by Perini Palace. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Var. In this line-up, she should go one better.

ROYAL HORIZON ran a fair race over 1200m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She drops to 1000m and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

ENDIZAYO is an unraced daughter of Querari from the Paul Matchett stable with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. She is related to two-time winner Ubukhwebezana. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 3

DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. The 5yo gelding is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

WHAT A TIGER is better than his last start suggests. His previous two efforts were good. If putting his best foot forward, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

NKANDLA GOLD finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 4

MISS HANNIGAN won a good race in her last start over 1600m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and from pole position, she is the horse to beat.

GIMME A SHOT finished 3.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

CALLMEWHENUNEEDME stayed on when sixth over 1200m on this course last time. She has won once and finished second twice from five starts on this track. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

CELTIC RUSH’S last two starts have been decent. He raced from a handy position over 1700m last time before getting carried off a straight line in the closing stages. He won his only attempt over this distance. Kabelo Matsunyane is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

AMERICAN REBEL finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

CLAW finished 0.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 6

GIMMEACHOICE finished 0.5 lengths behind ARCHIMIDES last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is lightly raced with plenty of scope and should be the horse to beat.

ARCHIMIDES won a game race in his last start over this distance. He is the stable elect with Jason Gates retaining the ride and he may be hard to peg back.

ROYAL EDITION set the pace over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time and stayed on at the finish. He takes a drop in class and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 7

MASTER CHRISTMAS fought hard for his last victory over this distance. He has won twice from three starts on this course. The son of Master Of My Fate is on the up and he should follow up with another victory.

VIVA SPIRIT stayed on when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse today and cannot be ignored.

MOOLA MAN was an easy winner of his last start over 1700m. He received a seven-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Lancaster Bomber takes on stronger, but he is in a good space and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 8

MIGHTY GODDESS has good consistent form lines to her credit. She challenged strongly over 1800m last time but found one too good in the form of Ariel’s Jet. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. She will strip a much fitter horse today and can notch up her fourth-career victory.

ACROSS THE POND won a good race in her last start over this distance. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect.

TWOSTEP QUEEN is the stable companion of the second choice. She won a good race in her last start over this distance. She faces stronger but may be ahead of the handicapper and she can follow up
