EMERALD BAY was beaten a head by the former in their last clash over this distance, but is 2kgs better off at today's weights and should be able to turn the tables on her conqueror here. She is the only runner on the day from the Erico Verdonese stable and gets the services of Gavin Lerena.

MASTER AND MAN has solid staying form to his credit and challenged strongly in his last start over ten furlongs and on that performance, the step up to 2800M should be well within his grasp.

 
Race 6: GREASEPAINT (9)
Jockey: P Strydom - Trainer: R Magner

GREASEPAINT battled all the way down to the wire when winning his last start over six furlongs and is sure to enjoy the drop back down to the minimum distance. Seven of his twelve victories to date have been posted over over this trip. He attempts his hat-trick here and gets Piere Strydom back in the saddle who has been aboard in his last two wins. The 9yr old gelding does not appear to have lost his zest for competing.

 

 

Race 7: CIRCLE OF LATITUDE (2)
Jockey: S Khumalo - Trainer: A Laird

CIRCLE OF LATITUDE lacked a strong finish in her last start over nine furlongs, but a repeat of her penultimate run over this c&d would see the 5yr old mare right up there in the firing line. She jumps from gate two and retains the services of S'manga Khumalo.

The narrow pick goes to FLY NORTH who attempts her hat-trick here. She steps up to a mile, but the manner in which she has finished off her last two outings over seven furlongs suggest that she will enjoy going the extra distance. She will be chasing down the frontrunners in the latter stages of the contest.
