BARAK caught the eye when running on well to finish second over seven furlongs on the inside course at Turffontein. The son of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should go one better today. Sherman Brown retains the ride which is encouraging.

Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Alec LAIRD

G I JOE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He stayed on well at the business end of his last start over ten furlongs. The drop in trip should not pose a concern and from his good draw of three, he should be the one they all have to beat.

Race 6: EDEN ROC (2)

Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON - Trainer: Sean TARRY

EDEN ROC is much better than his last start in the Grade 2 Gauteng Guineas suggests. He returns from a break today, which may have been what he needed. He re-unites with jockey Lyle Hewitson who was aboard the son of Var in his first three career victories.

PEACEONTHEROCKS is the best bet on today's programme. She ran a very good race when finishing second over seven furlongs at Turffontein. She settled near the rear of the field that day and challenged strongly all the way down to the wire. This isn't the strongest maiden field and she should be rewarded for consistency today.

FLYING VAR'S last start can be completely ignored as she was badly cut into. She produced a promising debut effort when finishing fourth over six furlongs. The manner in which she races suggests that she will enjoy the step up to today's distance. She jumps from a mid-field draw and with 2.5kg claiming apprentice Jeffrey Syster in the saddle, she may be the one they all have to beat.
