FRANCE IN A DIFFERENT CLASS

Posted 1 Feb 08h50

The blog got off to a profitable start with the Wales u14.5 never in doubt as they failed to score a point.

Strangely I didn't think Wales played that bad and by that I mean they played to their ability and to their credit never faded in the 2nd half.

The harsh reality for Wales is that they don't have the players to be able to match a team like France and for Welsh supporters that is disturbing as it is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

I also got the feeling France were not quite at their best.

Onto todays action and I will be looking for a strong showing from Italy and will be out wth my play in the Ireland v England game shortly.

SIX NATIONS OUTRIGHTS

Posted 30 Jan 23h05

Here are some long term Six Nations plays courtesy of the forum and The Admiral on our rugby betting show

BET:  5 units France to be top scoring team at 13/10 at Betxchange

France have so many attacking options and I expect them to put some big scores up

BET: 2 units France to win the Grand Slam at 7/2 at Hollywoodbets

Southpaw highlighted this at 4/1 in the forum and although it is slightly shorter now I am happy to hop on board.

BET:  2 units Italy v Wales lowest scoring match at 9/1 at Sportingbet

Both teams will know the loser is likely to get the wooden spoon and it could be an arm wrestle - the price is 9/2 elsewhere so this may not last

BET: 4 units over 3.5 Red Cards at 9/10 at Hollywoodbets

The Admiral highlighted this one on the show and I agree with his logic that the introduction of the 20 minute red card could see a few extra Reds given.

SIX NATIONS FIXTURES

Posted 27 Jan 09h23

The Six Nations draw is important with teams only playing each other once and some having 3 home games and other 2. Lets have a look at each teams fixtures:

France (FRA)

  • Fri 31 Jan: FRA vs WAL
  • Sat 8 Feb: ENG vs FRA
  • Sun 23 Feb: ITA vs FRA
  • Sat 8 Mar: IRE vs FRA
  • Sat 15 Mar: FRA vs SCO

The 2 away games at England and Ireland will be huge with the latter potentally a tournament decider.

Ireland (IRE)

  • Sat 1 Feb: IRE vs ENG
  • Sun 9 Feb: SCO vs IRE
  • Sat 22 Feb: WAL vs IRE
  • Sat 8 Mar: IRE vs FRA
  • Sat 15 Mar: ITA vs IRE

They play their 2 biggest rivals (according to the betting) at home

England (ENG)

  • Sat 1 Feb: IRE vs ENG
  • Sat 8 Feb: ENG vs FRA
  • Sat 22 Feb: ENG vs SCO
  • Sun 9 Mar: ENG vs ITA
  • Sat 15 Mar: WAL vs ENG

Their 1st match away to Ireland will set the tone, win that and the clash with France at Twickenham the next week will be titanic

Scotland (SCO)

  • Sat 1 Feb: SCO vs ITA
  • Sun 9 Feb: SCO vs IRE
  • Sat 22 Feb: ENG vs SCO
  • Sat 8 Mar: SCO vs WAL
  • Sat 15 Mar: FRA vs SCO

Their home game at home to Ireland in week 2 is a must win. The loss of Tuipulotu is huge.

Wales (WAL)

  • Fri 31 Jan: FRA vs WAL
  • Sat 8 Feb: ITA vs WAL
  • Sat 22 Feb: WAL vs IRE
  • Sat 8 Mar: SCO vs WAL
  • Sat 15 Mar: WAL vs ENG

Realistically their big game is likely week 2 in Rome with the loser likely to get the Wooden Spoon and at the moment Wales are 15/20 favourites to finish last

Italy (ITA)

  • Sat 1 Feb: SCO vs ITA
  • Sat 8 Feb: ITA vs WAL
  • Sun 23 Feb: ITA vs FRA
  • Sun 9 Mar: ENG vs ITA
  • Sat 15 Mar: ITA vs IRE

The home game against Wales in week 2 is their final, they may threaten but hard to see them beating any of the others.
