2017 Form:

England’s Grand Slam bid in the 2017 Six Nations came unstuck at the final hurdle when they lost 13-9 to Ireland in Dublin. That was their only defeat in 2017 and their end of year program delivered wins over Argentina (21-8), Australia (30-6) and Samoa (48-14) at Twickenham.

2017 Form:

Ireland’s 2017 Six Nations campaign got off on the wrong foot with a defeat in Scotland and they also lost to Wales in Cardiff in Round 4. Although they were foot perfect in Dublin their chances of the title had evaporated by the time they beat England. The highlight of their end of year program was a 30-3 demolition of the Boks in Dublin whilst a second string side edged past Fiji before they finished up with a 28-19 home win over Argentina.

Wales

Fixtures: R1 Scotland (h), R2 England (a), R3 Ireland (a), R4 Italy (h), R5 France (h)

2017 Form:

Wales won just 2 games in the 2017 Six Nations, in Italy where they failed to secure a 4 try bonus point and a much improved effort against the Irish in Cardiff.

In the end of year internationals they were beaten at home by Australia (29-21) and New Zealand (33-18) but they did finish up with a 24-22 win over the Boks.

France

Fixtures: R1 Ireland (h), R2 Scotland (a), R3 Italy (h), R4 England (h), R5 Wales (a)

Recent 6N Finishes:

2017: 3rd Place W3 D0 L2 PD+17

2016: 5th Place W2 D0 L3 PD -27

2015: 4th Place W2 D0 L3 PD +2

2014: 4th Place W2 D0 L3 PD +1

2013: 6th Place W1 D1 L3 PD -18

2017 Form:

France won 3 of their matches in this tournament last year including both home fixtures against the Scots and finally the Welsh. That was as good as it got as they failed to win for the remainder of the year. They lost all 3 tests to the Boks on their tour of South Africa before the end of year internationals comprised of home defeats to New Zealand (38-18) and a return with South Africa (18-17) before they finished up by drawing 23-23 with Japan.

Scotland

Fixtures: R1 Wales (a), R2 France (h), R3 England (h), R4 Ireland (A), R5 Italy (a)

Recent 6N Finishes:

2017: 4th Place W3 D0 L2 PD +4

2016: 4th Place W2 D0 L3 PD +7

2015: 6th Place W0 D0 L5 PD -55

2014: 5th Place W1 D0 L4 PD -91

2013: 3rd Place W2 D0 L3 PD -9

2017 Form:

Scotland won all 3 of their home games in this tournament in 2017 but both away fixtures ended in disappointment, a 22-16 loss to Les Bleus in Paris and a terrible 61-21 hiding off the English at Twickenham.

In June the Scots beat the Wallabies 24-19 in Sydney whilst in November they ran the All Blacks really close, going down 22-17 before they ended on a big high with a 53-24 victory in a return meeting with Australia.

Italy

Fixtures: R1 England (h), R2 Ireland (a), R3 France (a), R4 Wales (a), R5 Scotland (h)

Recent 6N Finishes:

2017: 6th Place W0 D0 L5 PD-151

2016: 6th Place W0 D0 L5 PD-145

2015: 5th Place W1 D0 L4 PD -120

2014: 6th Place W0 D0 L5 PD -109

2013: 4th Place W2 D0 L3 PD -36

2017 Form:

Italy had a pretty awful time of it in 2017, losing all their Six Nations matches and 3 more on their travels in June. In the end of year internationals they did taste success against Fiji (19-10) but they went on to lose at home to the Boks (35-6) and Argentina (31-15) .
