After finding much of the first half of the season a struggle Leopards are showing plenty of signs of encouragement. They won their last match of 2018, 3-1 at home to Amazulu and they returned from the Christmas break with a 2-1 win away to Baroka. Leopards are now in twelfth position and their home record comprises of 3 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats with 7 goals scored and 6 conceded.

Supersport went down 1-0 at home to Cape Town City in their first action in the second half of the campaign and they have slipped back into mid table. However the top half of the log is pretty congested and a return to winning ways could see them rise as high as third if other results go their way. Supersport have won just twice on the road this season, drawing 4 and losing 3 with just 5 goals scored and 8 conceded.

When the teams met earlier in the season Supersport coasted to a 4-0 win.

Verdict:

Leopards look a very different proposition to when the teams met earlier in the season and they could be worth chancing here although I prefer to take draw no bet insurance.

Bet: Leopards Draw no Net at 23/20

Amazulu v Highlands Park

Amazulu lost by the odd goal in 5 away at Polokwane last week and they now return to home soil where they are unbeaten with 4 wins and 4 draws, scoring 12 goals and conceding 5. Their 2 most recent home matches delivered wins over Golden Arrows (2-0) and Bloem Celtic (3-0) and had they not been hit by a 6 point deduction earlier in the season, Amazulu would be in the top half of the log.

Highlands threatened to turn Orlando Pirates over in a home fixture last week but in the end they had to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw. They are now unbeaten in their last 5, a run of 2 wins and 3 draws. That sequence includes a 2-1 victory away to Bloem Celtic, their only away win alongside 5 draws and 2 defeats. Highlands are in ninth position, 2 places and 5 points better off than Amazulu. They have found the net 8 times on their travels whilst conceding 9.

The first meeting this season saw Amazulu win 2-1 away from home.

Verdict:

The last 7 Highlands matches have seen backers of over 2.5 goals collect on 6 occasions, a rare trend in this league. We may well see goals again here and I fancy both sides could be on target but the price for a home win makes a touch more appeal.

Bet: Amazulu to win at 18/10

Cape Town City v Baroka FC

City are another side looking to move up from mid table into the top 3. They have won back to back matches, 3-2 at home to Bloem Celtic just before Christmas and 1-0 away to Supersport last weekend. City have won 4 of 8 home matches, drawing 2 and losing 2 with 13 goals scored and 10 conceded.

Despite Baroka’s success in the Telkom Knockout they remain in relegation trouble with only 2 sides below them in the leaguestandings. They did pull off a 1-0 win at Maritzburg before Christmas and they also took maximum points from an earlier visit to Golden Arrows. A draw at Sundowns is their only other points return on their travels and 5 road trips have ended in defeat. Baroka have found the net just 3 times on the road whilst conceding 7 times.

Earlier in the season Baroka beat City 2-1.

Verdict:

Baroka were improving late in 2018 but they disappointed in a home fixture last week and they battle for goals when they travel. I fancy City can edge it though I do not consider them banker material.

Bet: Home win at 21/20
