There are three Absa Premiership matches for punters to get involved in on Wednesday night as Mamelodi Sundowns visit Chippa United, Polokwane City host Bidvest Wits and Supersport United take on Orlando Pirates.
Chippa United v Mamelodi Sundowns
Chippa's opening game of the season was also a home fixture and they played out a 0-0 draw with newly promoted Stellenbosch on 3rd August. They had the better of the game but couldn't find a break through and they now come up against a Sudnowns side who beat them in both league meetings last season, 3-2 in Tshwane and 1-0 in the Eastern Cape. Chippa did knock Sundowns out of the Nedbank Cup last season with a 2-1 win in Port Elizabeth but 12 head to heads in the Absa Premiership have produced 7 wins for Sundowns and 5 draws.
Sundowns began their defence of the league title with a 2-0 home win over Supersport with Vilakazi opening the scoring midway through the first half and Themba Zwane sealed the points in the closing stages. Going back to last season Sundowns boasted the best away record in the top flight, winning 10 of 15 road trips alongside 4 draws and 1 defeat.
In the current betting for this game Hollywoodbets quote Chippa at 32/10, the draw at 21/10 and Sundowns can be backed at 9/10.
Chippa struggle against Downs in league meetings but rather than go with odds on for an away win I like Hollywood's multigoals market where 2-3 goals in total, regardless of who wins, covers a number of scorelines I can envisage here.
Bet: Multigoals, 2-3 at 9/10 Hollywoodbets
Polokwane City v Bidvest Wits
Polokwane are right up there with the early pace having won both their matches so far. They started with a 1-0 win away to Black Leopards thanks to a first half goal from Mobani and on Saturday Anas struck deep into injury time to score the only game of the game against struggling Amazulu.
They now take aim at Bidvest Wits and in last season's head to heads Polokwane won 1-0 away from home and the return ended all square at 3-3. Of the last 6 head to heads 4 have been drawn.
The Clever Boys start to the season has produced mixed results. They coasted to a 3-0 win away at Amazulu first time out but they tripped up at home to Baroka in their second match, losing 1-0 at home.
Hollywoodbets are currently quoting another draw at 37/20 whilst Polokwane can be backed at the same price and Wits are 16/10.
Polokwane City have yet to concede a goal although this looks a much tougher test than they faced against Leopards and Amazulu who are are both struggling in the early stages of the campaign. On their day Wits, who travelled last season and brushed aside Amazulu in KZN first up, are more than capable of winning this but they were wasteful last time out and a draw gets the vote.
Bet: Match result draw at 37/20 Hollywoodbets
Supersport United v Orlando Pirates
Supersport haven't been in league action since the 2-0 defeat to Sundowns on the opening day of the season. The fixture list has handed them a tough start with unbeaten Kaizer Chiefs to face after this. Early last season Supersport knocked Pirates out of the MTN8 on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw. In the 2018/19 league meetings Supersport lost 3-1 to Pirates in Orlando but they did win the return 1-0, a result which made a big dent in Pirates bid for the title.
Pirates made a solid start to the new season with a 3-1 home win over Bloem Celtic. Mulenga opened the scoring after just 6 minutes and although Celtic fought back to go into half time all square, second half goals from Maela and Mhango gave the Bucs maximum points. Pirates now hit the road and in 2018/19 they won 8 matches on their travels, drawing another 5 and losing 2.
Hollywoodbets have Pirates as favourites to win the game, quoted at 29/20 at the time of writing. The draw is priced at 37/20 and Supersport are 43/20 to come out on top.
These 2 sides usually put on a decent game when they clash. I'm tempted by Pirates but Supersport could be a handful and preference is for both teams to find the net
Bet: Both teams to score? (yes) at even money with Hollywoodbets
