sundowns1819Our featured DSTV Premiership match taking place on Tuesday sees league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns host poor travellers Bloemfontein Celtic.

Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns played out a 0-0 draw in a derby clash with Supersport at the weekend. They remain top of the standings with a record of 7 wins and 4 draws although they only lead Swallows on goal difference with Supersport 2 points back in third.

Other recent league fixtures delivered a 2-0 win at Baroka and a 1-0 home win over Orlando Pirates. Sundowns have won 4 and drawn 1 of their 5 designated home fixtures with Tshakhuma the only visiting team to avoid defeat with a 0-0 draw in what was just the second outing of the season.

Sundowns have scored 19 league goals this season and they have conceded just 5 times.

Bloemfontein Celtic

With 10 points from 11 league matches Celtic are in the bottom half of the log, just 2 points better off than TS Galaxy who prop up the standings. It's very congested in the lower half of the table and at the weekend Celtic played out a 1-1 draw at home to Stellenbosch.

Away form continues to be the major problem and last week Celtic were beaten 2-1 by Supersport in Tshwane. From 5 road trips Celtic have earned just 1 point from a 1-1 draw at Kaizer Chiefs and they have conceded 10 goals on their travels.

Recent Head to Head

The teams met in the MTN8 at the start of this season and Celtic sprang a surprise with a 1-0 win away from home.

In 2019/20 Sundowns beat Celtic 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup final and in the league games Sundowns won both meetings by a 2-1 scoreline.

The Betting

In the early betting Sundowns can be backed at around 5/10 to win the game, the draw is trading at around 28/10 and Celtic are an 11/2 chance

Verdict:

Celtic shocked Sundowns in the MTN8 at the start of the season but since then little has gone right for them when they have travelled.

I will go with Sundowns to get the job done but only by a single goal margin.

Bet: Sundowns to win by 1 goal exactly at 47/20
