sundowns1819Mamelodi Sundowns and Swallows are running neck and neck at the top of the DSTV Premiership standings as the two sides prepare to face off on Saturday

Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns played out a 0-0 draw at home to Bloem Celtic in midweek, a second consecutive stalemate after in a derby clash with Supersport went the same way last weekend. They remain top of the standings with a record of 7 wins and 5 draws but they only lead Swallows on goal difference with Supersport 2 points back in third.

Downs have kept a clean sheet in each of their last 4 league games and they have only conceded 5 league goals in 12 outings, 3 of which came in a 4-3 win over Amazulu early in the season.

At the other end of the park Sundowns have scored 19 league goals this season and backers of both teams to score? (no) have collected in 9 of 12.

Swallows missed the chance to go top of the log when they drew 1-1 at home with struggling Chippa United in their midweek fixture, scoring early but conceding 15 minutes from time.

Swallows have an identical record to Sundowns, 7 wins and 5 draws and they have scored a total of 16 goals and conceded 7. Their biggest test away from home so far came at Pirates earlier this month and a very late equalizer saw them rescue a 1-1 draw. Their away record comprises of 3 wins and 3 draws with 8 goals scored and 4 conceded. .

The Betting

In the early betting Sundowns can be backed at around 8/10 to win the game, the draw is trading at around 12/5 and Swallows are a 15/4 chance

A game of 3 goals or more in total is priced at 11/10 and its even money for both sides to find the net.

Swallows have been terrific this season and if they can retain their unbeaten record in the ultimate test away to the league champions it will be a real marker in terms of their chances of staying the course in the title race.

Downs have found goals hard to come by this week but when it comes to title showdowns they have all the experience whilst this is new territory for their opponents.

I will go with Sundowns to win by a single goal margin
