Manchester City

City are bidding for a first Champions League title and they have an unbeaten record in this competition this season. In the semi finals they beat PSG 4-1 on aggregate, coming from behind to win 2-1 in Paris and finishing the job with a 2-0 win in return. Earlier knockout rounds saw City come through their quarter final match up with Dortmund 4-2 on aggregate winning both legs 2-1. They met Gladbach in the Round of 16 and they secured a comfortable passage through in winning both legs staged in neutral Budapest by a 2-0 scoreline. City also came through the group stage with 5 wins and 1 draw.

City were also crowned Premier League champions this season, finishing 12 points clear of Manchester United and they also banked the League Cup.

Chelsea

Chelsea sealed their place in the final with a 3-1 win over Real Madrid, drawing the first leg 1-1 away from home before a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. In earlier knockout rounds Seville was the neutral venue for both legs of Chelsea's quarter final match up with Porto. Chelsea took control after a 2-0 win in the first leg tand although they lost the second leg 1-0 they went through on aggregate. Chelsea's Round of 16 match up with Atletico Madrid looked likely to be tight but Chelsea won both legs, 1-0 in Madrid and then 2-0 in London.

Chelsea survived a scare in the final round of Premier League matches. They lost 2-1 at Villa last weekend but other results went their way and they finished fourth in the standings to ensure they will play Champions League football next season even if they lose this final. Chelsea also made it to the FA Cup Final but they were beaten 1-0 by Leicester.

Recent Head to Head

Chelsea lost the first league meeting this season 3-1 to City at Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard in early January but they won the return in Manchester 2-1 as recently as 8th May.

The teams also met in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley on 17th April and Chelsea edged it 1-0.

The Betting

City are currently trading at around 17/20 to win the final in 90 minutes with the draw at 5/2 and Chelsea can be backed at around 7/2

A game of 3 goals or more is 23/20 and it's 21/20 for both teams to score in 90 minutes

Sergio Aguero is 9/2 favourite to score the first goal with a number of other City players at 11/2 and you can get at least 7/1 against any individual Chelsea player to break the deadlock.

To win the trophy under any method of victory City are priced at 4/10 and Chelsea are 18/10.

Verdict:

The two most recent head to heads bring Chelsea firmly into the equation but City have had to be very patient over recent season for the opportunity to contest a final and I fancy they can get the job done in 90 minutes. However rather than take the match result quote I see better value in City to score at least twice in regulation time at odds against.

In the anytime goalscorer market De Bruyne has been kind to me in the knockout rounds and he gets my vote again.

For a speculative correct score pick for a small stake, 2-0 City is my preference

90 minute Bets: City total goals over 1.5 at 21/20

Anytime goalscorer De Bruyne at 26/10

Correct score City to win 2-0 at 7.25/1
