Japan 2.76/1 Draw 9/4 Croatia 11/10 (90 mins)

Japan

Despite having Spain and Germany for company Japan topped Group E with 6 points, Spain were runners up on 4 points, the Germans, also with 4 points were the biggest casualties, going out on goal difference and Costa Rica were fourth with 3.

In their opening match Doan and Asano were the Japan scorers in a come from behind 2-1 win over Germany. They saw only 26% of the possession but more than played their part in a terrific second half.

Japan then passed up the opportunity to seal a place in the knockout rounds when they went down 1-0 to Costa Rica. They dominated much of the second half and caused Costa Rica some nervous times in the dying moments of the game.

That meant Japan needed a win from their final group match against Spain to be sure of going through. They fell behind after just 11 minutes but shortly after half time they equalized through Doan and within minutes they were 2-1 up through a controversial Tanaka goal and they held on for a 2-1 victory.

In the outright betting to win the tournament Japan are trading at around 66/1

Croatia

Croatia came through Group F as runners up to Morocco with Belgium the headline departure in third and Canada never got in a blow.

Croatia, runners up in 2018 , played out 0-0 draws with Belgium and Morocco either side of a 4-1 win over Canada where a brace from Kramaric and goals from Livaja and Majer helped them through.

In the outright betting to win the tournament Croatia are trading at around 33/1

The Verdict:

Croatia look to have retained the staying power that took them to the final 4 years ago and on that occasion their knockout round matches went down to the wire. Japan are another side not short on spirit and I fancy this could go the full distance.

Brazil 3/10 Draw 46/10 South Korea 10.4/1 (90 mins)

Brazil

Brazil topped Group G with 6 points ahead of Switzerland on goal difference. Cameroon were third with 4 points and Serbia fourth with 1.

After winning their first 2 matches Brazil assured themselves of their place in the last 16 at the earliest opportunity. Richarlison scored both of their goals in a 2-0 win over Serbia first time out and a late goal from Casemiro secured a 1-0 win over Switzerland. After opting to make 10 changes to their line up for their final match against Cameroon Brazil fluffed their lines and went down (1-0) to an injury time goal.

Neymar picked up a knock in their first game and didn't feature in the remaining group matches, Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles were injured against Cameroon and are both out of the tournament.

In the outright betting to win the tournament Brazil are trading at around 9/4 (favourites)

South Korea

South Korea finished as runners up to Portugal in Group H. Portugal finished on 6 points and Korea (4 points) edged out Uruguay on goals scored with Ghana fourth on 3 points.

Their tournament had started with a 0-0 draw with Uruguay before Cho Gue-sung scored both of South Korea's goals in the 3-2 defeat against Ghana.

In the final round of group matches South Korea came up against Portugal who were already assured of the place in the last 16. They fell behind after just 5 minutes before Kim Young-gwon stabbed home an equalizer and it was 1-1 at half time. It stayed that way until injury time when Hwang Hee-chan put them in front and they had a nervy wait to see how Uruguay finished up their game before they could celebrate.

In the outright betting to win the tournament South Korea are trading at around 175/1

The Verdict:

Brazil are the side who have suffered most with injuries but they have arguably the most depth in their squad and I was still surprised a much changed side went down to Cameroon. South Korea will likely put in a huge shift but I'm looking to the correct score market and Brazil to win 2-0 and Vinicius Junior to pop up with a goal,

Bets: Anytime goalscorer Vinicius Junior at 18/10 with Playabets

Correct Score, Brazil to win 2-0 at 42/10 with Playabets
