Our featured 2022 World Cup play off taking place on Tuesday is the second leg of the clash between Senegal and after last week's first leg Egypt have a slender lead.

Senegal

 

An own goal from Saliou Cisse as early as the fourth minute of the first leg sees Senegal with work to do if they are to book their ticket to the World Cup Finals in Qatar later this year. There were few chances thereafter although Mane missed an opportunity late in the first half.

 

Senegal had beaten Egypt in spot kicks in the AFCON final in Cameroon early this year (0-0 90 mins and extra time) and they also won 5 and drew 1 of their World Cup qualifying group matches to finish in front of Togo, Namibia and Congo.

 

Egypt

 

Mo Salah's shot which hit the woodwork led to Egypt's goal in the first leg but the job is only half done. The Pharoah's AFCON campaign also involved a series of tight matches including a penalty shoot out win of their own in the semi finals against the host nation Cameroon. They also beat Morocco 2-1 in extra time in the last 8 and in the Round of 16 they beat Ivory Coast on spot kicks.

 

Egypt sealed their World Cup play off place with 4 wins and 2 draws in their group to finish in front of Gabon, Libya and Angola.

 

 

The Betting (^2nd Leg)

 

Senegal are even money to win the game in regulation time, a draw is 19/10 and Egypt are 32/10.

 

To qualify via any method Senegal are 18/10 and Egypt are 7/20

 

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 41/20 and it's 1.55/1 for both teams to find the net in the 90 minutes.

 

Verdict:

 

I can imagine Egypt defending in depth but with Salah in their ranks they could still be a threat and Senegal will have to judge this to perfection if the are to turn the tie around.

 

Other than it being a tense game I'm open minded about the outcome. I went for 1-1 in the firs leg and although that didn't arrive it did keep me interested and I'll

go with the same outcome here.
