bafanaSouth Africa's World Cup qualifying campaign resumes on Thursday when they host Zimbabwe and ahead of a crucial few days Bafana are top of the group.

After four rounds of matches South Africa top Group G with 10 points, Ghana have 9 points and Ethiopia (3 points) and Zimbabwe (1 point) are no longer in contention.

There are 10 qualifying groups from the Africa region but only 5 nations will go on to make it to Qatar. The ten group winners will face off in five 2 leg play offs to determine which teams will qualify for next years finals.

Earlier in the day Ethiopia clash with Ghana (in Orlando) and the Black Stars will be firm favourites but our focus is on the game at Soccer City.

South Africa

Bafana's 1-0 home win over Ethiopia last month kept them 1 point clear of Ghana at the top of the group. It's now a 2 horse race for the play offs and when Bafana head to Ghana for Sunday's clash they will want to do so in the knowledge that avoiding defeat will see them through and into the play offs.

In earlier results Bafana were 3-1 winners in Ethiopia and a previous home game delivered a 1-0 win over Ghana who were missing a number of key players. The opening group match against Zimbabwe in Harare had finished in a 0-0 draw.

Zimbabwe

In the stalemate with Bafana Zimbabwe battled to create chances and since then they have lost all 3 of their matches. They went down 1-0 away to Ethiopia, 3-1 in Ghana and last time out at home to the Black Stars they were beaten 1-0.

The Betting

South Africa are currently trading at around 9/20 to win the game with the draw at 26/10 and Zimbabwe are priced at around 13/2.

A game of 3 goals or more is trading at 5/4 and it's 31/20 for both teams to score

Note, odds are correct at the time of writing but are subject to change

Verdict:

Bafana have conceded just once in 4 matches whilst Zim have managed just 1 goal of their own so far and as long as they hold their nerve this should go the way of the home side. The opportunity to field Keagan Dolly and Percy Tau should give Bafana the edge and given their defensive record I fancy they can win with a clean sheet.

Bet: Which teams to score? South Africa only, 19/20
