IND vs NZ

Top of the table clash and hopefully should be a good game. I mentioned in a previous post that one of my favorite type of players for PP bets are WKs. I was surprised to see a low line for NZ skipper Tom Latham and I think he will enjoy the conditions in Dharmashala.

Tom Latham over 30.5 PP - 1.83 (Betway)

India have a stacked batting order but one problem that they struggle with is left arm bowlers. Boult and Santner should enjoy bowling at the Indians and there is value on both men taking wickets and top bowler for NZ.

Thanks Chris and Vann. That Latham drop of Santner yesterday was a massive blow for both our bets Vann.

PAK vs AFG

Back to Chennai today and Pakistan are in desperate need for a win now. They play Proteas at Chennai on Friday so I would say they have an advantage of knowing the conditions.

Anyway back to today game and the spinners should enjoy the conditions. However, I am staying with Pakistan talisman and their bowling leader in Afridi. He was outstanding against Australia and picked up a fiver. I think he troubles the Afghanistan batsman today and picks up a few wickets. Maybe a catch as well, or in desperate times, 2 wickets and 1 run :cheer:

ENG vs SL

Knockout territory for England now and they probably have to win all their remaining games plus get their NRR back to a good mark. Best way to improve that NRR is by batting first and getting a run rate of around 7.50-8. Begaluru is the perfect place to do that, with the small boundaries and the flat road pitch.

Hopefully England win the toss and bat, and this bet should be a massive runner. Taking advantage of the price boosts at Sportingbet, and hoping two of England big hitters finally come to the party.

Carnage by Maxwell there in the last 10 overs. The Dutch have somehow managed to build partnerships with the tail enders and I am reinvesting some of the Van Beek winnings in two speculative top scorer bets. Hoping for something like a 70-5 and then 200 all out scenario.

India batting first, SA chasing again, lets see how both teams handle the pressure. Sky is a gun fielder and one of those players who the ball seems to follow. He has had a quite WC so far with the bat, but his quality is there. Think this PP line is 10 too low.

Some ramblings for the Proteas....

Trying to find some positives after that drubbing yesterday. India at 9/10 to win the CWC is not value (sure they can go 11/11 but remember even the Patriots of 2007 went 16-0 and still bottled the Super Bowl).

Home pressure in a home WC final, will 100% play a factor on the Indians, don't let it fool you about them already playing under pressure now. No, playing group games is not pressure, the knockouts will be a hole different type of pressure.

If I was into conspiracy theories, no way will the ICC and most importantly SA allow India to lose. All six SA20 sides are owned by Indian teams, surely they wont allow SA to beat India in their backyard CWC Final.....But boy how good would it feel to break the millions of Indian hearts in their home final!

Anyway, yes I believe the 5/1 on SA to win the CWC is value. The semi's taking place in Mumbai (1st vs 4th) and Kolkata (2nd vs 3rd). The final is in Ahmedabad. Mumbai will be a batting paradise, but what is interesting is that Kolkata were SA will play will be a spinner friendly wicket, just like yesterday game.

Our last game against Afghanistan on Friday is played at Ahmedabad, it should be another spin friendly wicket, and Afghans have four world class spinners. Our batsmen, need to use that game as a warm up for the final, use the conditions and the pitch to work on our playing of spin. Essentially, unlike India, we will have a chance to play at the WC final venue leading up to the showpiece final. We should play much better the second time around against India.

Now, all this goes out the window, should be lose in Kolkata in the Semi, but I am sure the players are hurt after the drubbing yesterday, and have a point to prove ahead of the knockouts. We have players who can take the game away from the Indians, we need them to step up now and show that they are of International pedigree.

5/1 seems a fair price, who knows, with a bit of luck, should we meet India in the final, the price could flip and a position may be found.
